Miami Dade County voted unanimously to urge President Trump to suspend all Cuba related federal licenses pending full audits and transparency. We cannot allow a communist regime to exploit federal authorizations that harm American interests and our community.

At @iflymia and @PortMiami , our @DHSgov personnel continue to carry out their duties with professionalism and dedication. They keep our families safe, our travel moving, and our economy running. They do it without recognition, and right now, without a paycheck. This was about showing up for the people who always show up for us. These are hardworking men and women with families, real responsibilities, and real pressures. They should never be put in this position. Yet every day, they continue to report to work and serve our community with integrity. Read more here: conta.cc/4tdGSjh

Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez
🚨SOS Cuba🚨 The metallic rhythm of thousands striking pots and pans is the sound of a funeral for a failed ideology. The Castro regime is running out of money, fuel, and—most importantly—time. I lived under this repression, I fled it, and today I am standing with the people of Cuba as they demand LIBERTAD. The only path forward is the restoration of human rights and a transition to a true DEMOCRACY. 🇺🇸🇨🇺 The night has been long, but the sunrise of a free Cuba is closer than ever. Patria y Vida! 🌅 👇 Read my full Op-Ed on Fox News: foxnews.com/opinion/sound-… #CubaLibre #PatriaYVida #SOSCuba #Freedom #Democracy

My family, like millions of Cubans, had everything taken by a regime that has never respected property or freedom. Until there are real elections, human rights, and accountability, the United States should not legitimize or finance that system. The Cuban exile community deserves nothing less than freedom and justice.

The Cuban communist dictatorship stole homes, businesses, land, and savings from millions of families. My own family is among them. Anyone willing to invest money in a system that already stole everything once should not be surprised when it happens again. The regime has never returned what it took and it has never respected private property. Read more here: conta.cc/417I3EF

Excellent point here. This move by the Cuban regime appears designed to undermine the legitimate property claims of Cubans living in the United States, who had their homes, businesses, and land confiscated by the communist dictatorship. No negotiations, no economic openings, and no concessions until property claims are addressed and the Cuban people are allowed free and fair elections. CC @POTUS @RepCarlos @MarioDB @RepMariaSalazar @SecRubio
Jason Ian Poblete@JasonPoblete

Details needed, but among other things, this proposed move by Cuba could open the door to Cubans with no U.S. connections—such as those living in Spain and Canada (nations with large numbers of businesses that do business on or connected to property stolen from Americans)—to do business in Cuba in ways that will undermine the claims of American citizens and Cubans living in the United States. This is a somewhat clever move by Cuba, and yet another sanctions-evasion scheme that will keep @USTreasury #OFAC busier than usual on Cuba enforcement. It needs to be stopped, and no more talks with Cuba until claims are resolved and Americans wrongfully detained in Cuba are released, including at least one Floridian wrongfully detained in Cuba since 2017.

Recognizing @PanAmerican Historic District This is a proud moment for District 6 and especially for our neighbors in Miami Springs and Virginia Gardens. These communities grew alongside @iflymia and helped shape Miami’s role as a global aviation center. Today’s recognition honors that history and the families who built their lives around it. Any negotiation that preserves a one party communist dictatorship while ignoring the core requirements of the LIBERTAD Act is unacceptable. Our community has sacrificed too much to accept an agreement that leaves the Cuban people without the democracy, human rights, and restitution clearly envisioned in the LIBERTAD Act. Families are the foundation of a healthy economy and a stable nation. Every generation must raise the next one. The children being raised today are the future teachers, engineers, entrepreneurs, soldiers, police officers and small business owners who will keep our country moving forward. Raising children with strong values, discipline and love of country is not just a private responsibility. It is our duty as Americans and essential to the long term strength and survival of our nation and our way of life. Across our country, there is a growing demand for property tax reform. Miami-Dade should not wait for Tallahassee to fix what we can fix right here at home. Eliminating tens of thousands of wasteful property tax bills is a simple step toward smarter government and greater respect for taxpayers. Read more: conta.cc/4lj1wvh

Thank you to the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for the incredible work you do uplifting Hispanic businesses, supporting entrepreneurs, and strengthening our local economy. Your dedication to empowering our community and creating opportunities across South Florida makes a real and lasting impact. It was an honor to celebrate my friend Carlos Silva, who was recognized with the Excellence in Entertainment Award. Carlos has had an extraordinary musical career, bringing so much talent, culture, and joy to our community for decades. It meant even more to me personally that he sang at my wedding, making that day even more special. Congratulations as well to Ambrosio Hernandez on his recognition. Through his reporting, Ambrosio has informed and served our community for many years, helping tell the stories that matter most to the people of South Florida.

Important conversations about the future of our hemisphere took place in @Cityofdoral at the Shield of the Americas Summit. I had the opportunity to meet President-elect of Chile @joseantoniokast , United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida Jason Reding Quiñones, and @DeputySecState . It was also wonderful to see @AmbCabrera and Mayor Christi Fraga , who hosted this outstanding event. Thank you to @POTUS and @SecRubio for their leadership and for all they continue to do to defend our nation and champion freedom across the Americas.

Keeping our firefighters in my prayers as they battle this intense fire.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue@MiamiDadeFire

Over 48 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (#MDFR) units are on-scene of a Fifth-Alarm warehouse fire at the 20600 block of Northwest 47th Avenue. Miramar Fire Rescue is assisting. Crews are working on extinguishing the fire. Due to structural integrity concerns, defensive operations were initiated, with multiple aerial units attacking the flames from overhead to extinguish the fire. As a result of the fire, residents may be experiencing smoky conditions, which can impact those with respiratory conditions. Please avoid the area and if possible remain indoors. Make sure that your windows and doors are closed and that your home and vehicle A/C are set to recirculate.
