@NikMilanovic @PayPal I get the importance of PayPal doing this but there are plenty of ways to go stables to dollars 1:1. That's easy because there's almost zero risk (no chargebacks, etc). Dollars to onchain stables at 1:1 (without delay, collateral, etc.) is the hard one.

Years and years ago a European regulator told me it was impermissible to store European personal data in a US AWS instance but it was totally fine to contract with our US entity to do the same. EU privacy interests magically solved via intercompany agreement. They love strict rules but then give you enough "steer" to find a path.

circle has 12 months to solve an unsolvable problem usdc can't comply with both mica and genius act using one token. eu requires 30% reserves in eu banks, us requires 100% in us treasuries same address can't redeem through both systems. $35b liquidity splits into usdc-us and usdc-eu. defi protocols need separate pools for each. price divergence nearly guaranteed

@davidzmorris Yeah, my fear of pardon is partially based on the possibility that he has some caches of crypto hidden out there that he'd be able to route to the Trump family. Hell, in this industry he could probably raise $100M+ for the bribe just by launching FTX2.

I cannot overstate how therapeutic this SBF appeal hearing will be for anyone nervous about this joker actually getting off.
The appeal was a disaster. Judges audibly smirked, while SBF's lawyer raged at not winning with bad facts.
