@nocapdistrict I don't think it's weird as much as it flows from him being the literal translator of Marx's later works via MEGA2 where Marx does seem to take a more critical view of what Saito calls Prometheanism. It's sort of a hot off the presses take. I liked the book.

That’s the weird thing with Saito. The degrowth marxists are basically right but Saito feels the need to base his argument on Marx himself being a degrowth Marxist.
1. No he clearly wasn’t.
2. Who cares if he was? That proves nothing about a Marxist response to climate change.

Saito's ‘Marx in the Anthropocene’ has interesting archival material but conflates Marx's notes on others' ideas with Marx's own positions, then uses this to argue for an epistemic break that's basically indistinguishable from the Althusserian coupure he invokes by name.

Temporarily switching my voter registration to Democrat in DC. Not because I changed my views, but because DC is a Democrat-only town with a closed primary system, you can’t be in one party and vote in another party’s primary, and the real election is the primary. We cannot allow @Janeese4DC and the Democratic socialist crop of comrades to run the city unchecked, because if that crowd wins, DC is going to go to shit fast.

"Lenin decriminalised homosexuality and Stalin recriminalised it" is a myth Lenin abolished the Tsarist legal code, which included a ban on homosexuality, decriminalising homosexuality was not the intention. As the Soviet Union then made new laws, homosexuality was banned again
