An example of why Chicago Police don't chase stolen cars:
Officers are alerted by plate reader of a stolen Jeep. They attempted to stop it, car fled and they followed behind it, car crashes into a home, guy driving stolen car dies and 2 passengers are severely injured.
Police board recommended 180 days to termination, ultimately given 180 day suspension.
Completely understandable why cops wouldn't risk losing 180 days of pay (or their job) for someone's stolen car.

Lewis Sr currently lives in Texas and his son was living with his mother.
“I just love my children with all my heart, and it’s just unimaginable that we could ever come to this point,” Lewis said.
Lewis added that he kept his son on life support for several days trying to save him, however, his injuries were too severe and he did not make it.
