@michaeldweiss Yeah, EU and NATO allies had been treating USA as their ATM, mocking for years and betraying USA. At last a US president did something about that

@judisommer1 @Shmizerist @Microinteracti1 @acoyne BTW…if Covid is so deadly why aren’t people dying from it now? If Covid is so deadly why is our govt allowing over a million unvaccinated people into the country each year? You were conned, as was 90% of the populace, but please continue to get as many boosters as possible.

Laura Ingraham did not tell the British Prime Minister to go back to his tea and crumpets because she was having a bad day. She did it because that is the job. Ingraham, Jesse Watters, and Sean Hannity denounced NATO on the same evening as “kind of a meaningless ally” that “we’ve had it with.” Same night. Three hosts. One message. That is not coincidence. That is a programme. You do not simply announce one morning that NATO is finished. The American public retains a residual affection for allies. Some of them have been to Paris. Abandoning Europe requires, first, that Europe be made to seem unworthy. Ungrateful. Weak. Smelling faintly of crumpets. So every crisis becomes an opportunity. A European diplomat put it with weary precision: “It’s like Groundhog Day. The reasons can be different, defense spending, Greenland, the Strait of Hormuz, but the threats keep returning.” Fox’s hosts, unable to admit that the Iran war they cheered into existence is deteriorating, have found their scapegoat: NATO allies who were never consulted before the war began and declined to join it. The people who started the fire are furious at the neighbours for not helping spread it. The White House confirmed the direction. An official told Fox News that Trump has “zero expectations for NATO at this point” and that the alliance had “failed.” The test, to be clear, was whether European democracies would join a war their own populations rejected. They declined. Apparently that is failure. The only time Article 5 was ever invoked was after September 11th, and Europeans served with distinction in Afghanistan. But that history is inconvenient. Better to focus on the tea. Every insult Ingraham delivers is a brick in the same wall. And when the wall is high enough, the announcement will come. And it will feel, to Fox viewers, like the obvious conclusion to an argument they have been having for years. They will not remember that the argument was constructed for them, one crumpet joke at a time. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

So apparently Viktor Orbán has been bankrolling CPAC for years with taxpayer money, and the new Hungarian prime minister is planning to pull all their funding. What do you bet Russia was funneling money to conservatives via the Orbán regime? Massive scandal, IMHO.

@flextazyy @FrancAndrad @arash_tehran Why do you put "refugees" in quotes? Do you know the difference between refugees and migrants? Do you understand how refugee and asylum law works? Do you have any clue about anything? We have to let them in. We've signed treaties that compel us to. Those treaties are law.

@norwegian76 @FrancAndrad @arash_tehran Main reason 'refugees' and migrants come the EU is because of the social securities. (free money, free housing,...) If the EU wanted they could stop them at the border. It definitely has to do with the EU: they let them in.

European Union, generally speaking, is pretty much the best humanity has done in its entire civilized history. And it's exactly for the reason the far-right hates it: Built on the foundations of the 1945 anti-Nazi victory, fruits of the best of liberalism and socialism

@Sim89776996 No it's not. But you're of course aware the Fidesz changed electoral maps to benefit themselves yet this time simply couldn't overcome, right. The winner won against all odds.

@norwegian76 Remember though that using the democratically legitimated supermajority to change the constitution would be fascism. Did Hungary elect another far right Nazi government?

@Urban_Immerser @arash_tehran Nazis were socialists, just a different flavour. Their party: National Socialist German Workers' Party. 25-Point Program demanded nationalisation of trusts, profit-sharing, massive welfare, land reform, & 'common good before individual good.'

Five things I've found almost no Europeans know (and lots of Americans don't either) that warps the view of America vs. Europe: - The distance from NYC to LA is as great as the distance from Moscow to Lisbon; - If you measure across all of Europe (excluding Russia, which would make the comparison worse for Europe), not just within each country, income inequality is greater than in the US, even though Europe is geographically smaller; - The overwhelming majority of Americans have much greater access to insured quality healthcare than the median European; - Disposable household income in the poorest US state, Mississippi, is higher than in any country in Europe that is as large or larger than Rhode Island; - How federalism works in the U.S. Ignorance on these 5 simple issues alone explains much of how people (incorrectly) view life in the U.S. vs. life in Europe.

Denmark has the highest marginal income tax rate in Europe, at 55.9%. Then you pay 25% VAT on anything you buy. Isn’t it funny when the clueless left in the US naively keep talking about “free” healthcare in Denmark? Nothing is free, you pay for it with your taxes.

Slik ser forsiden på Aftenpostens app ut nå. Det som tidligere var en borgerlig avis, er nå full av venstrevridde journalister som onanerer til håpet om at Trump og Orban mislykkes. Hver dag. Hele dagen. Dette er ikke journalistikk, det er aktivisme.

Interesting how many "official" Hungarian accounts are spreading disinformation that Fidesz is winning when the state electoral committee website is showing Tisza nearing 2/3 majority at 30% of votes counted. What's the game plan for this disinformation? vtr.valasztas.hu/ogy2026

Virtually the entirety of the Hungarian nation took to the polls today to put an end to the 16 year long rule of the kleptocrat that Donald Trump, JD Vance and Russia did everything in their power to endorse. Cheers from the European Union!🇪🇺

@moocat999 @FirstSquawk @grok Yes, they're pretty strict on migration. They still have to adjust somewhat to share the burden with the rest of the EU. Greece and Italy can't handle everything on behalf of the rest of the continent.
