@MarioNawfal So what you are saying is that Lebanon is a terrorist state. “demanding someone perform surgery on themselves.”

🇮🇱🇱🇧Israel's conditions for Lebanon leaked and they amount to a partition plan... Diplomatic sources told Al-Modon that Israel wants Lebanon divided into three zones: Zone 1: An 8km buffer strip in the south. Permanent. No return for displaced civilians. Zone 2: Everything south of the Litani River becomes a military operations area where Israel dismantles Hezbollah infrastructure and disarms it completely. Israeli forces leave only when they decide they're finished. Zone 3: North of the Litani and all remaining Lebanon. The Lebanese Army must fully disarm and dismantle Hezbollah on its own. Israel won't withdraw from anywhere until Beirut proves it's done. In other words, Israel occupies the south indefinitely, controls the middle until satisfied, and holds the north hostage to conditions Lebanon's army almost certainly cannot meet. Hezbollah has been embedded in Lebanese society for 40 years. Demanding the Lebanese Army dismantle it is like demanding someone perform surgery on themselves. Today Rubio hosts Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors in Washington for the most direct high-level meeting between the two countries since 1993. These conditions are what Israel walks in with. The State Department framing: "Israel is at war with Hezbollah, not Lebanon." The Israeli plan: occupy a third of Lebanon until every last Hezbollah weapon is accounted for. Those two statements cannot coexist. Source: Aljadeed, Axios

🇺🇸🇮🇷 The U.S. has 15+ warships in the Middle East ready to enforce the blockade on Iran. Here's how it works... The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier is operating in the Arabian Sea as a base for aerial boardings. The USS Tripoli has Marines trained specifically for ship interceptions. Guided missile destroyers can launch helicopters, deploy boats, or just sail up alongside commercial vessels and force them to turn around. If a ship resists? Navy SEALs or special operations forces conduct hostile boardings. The U.S. doesn't even need to operate near Iran. They can intercept ships in the Indian Ocean or even the Pacific. Blockades are slow. But the economic pressure starts before a single ship is boarded. Source: WSJ

@notafinger42 @latimeralder Most types of energy production are built with subsidies, but that's besides the point - wind turbines still earn back the investment extremely fast compared to non-renewable energy production. It's one of the reasons it's cheaper energy than everything else but hydro.

Renewables myths busted 1. 'Norway has 100% renewable energy' No. It doesn't. It gets a LOT of electricity from hydropower. But much of its overall energy comes still from fossil fuels. And very little from 'renewable' wind and solar Hydro is only an option in mountainous countries..Like Norway. Lucky Norway!

Money≡Work! BJ_Chippindale(Not Another Engineer)
@4TaxFairness Underlying this is an utterly broken definition of money that allows them to make more money by owning things rather than working. The result is their ownership of our news sources and our governments. This is the true road to serfdom. Hayek was intentionally ignorant.

Americans For Tax Fairness
No one really wants to talk about it, but one of the biggest reasons for this is that the ultrawealthy can mostly live off unrealized capital gains. It functions as real cash, because they can borrow against it at extremely low rates. And our tax code doesn't tax it at all.

@4TaxFairness then you make it taxable when the person uses it as collateral. I STILL DONT agree with this bullshit, but at least target the people who are getting the benefit and not everyone. This is stupid.

1) Artemis ii was nowhere near the landing sites, and couldn’t have photographed them even if they wanted to 2) that lunar module is still intact, the ascent stage should be missing since it brought the astronauts off the surface 3) Apollo 11 didn’t have a rover 4) the earth is too low on the horizon, it would only appear that way from the lunar limb, while all Apollo missions happened towards the center of the Earth-facing side meaning earth would be high in the sky 5) The scale and distribution of craters doesn’t match official Apollo 11 images

Mamdani’s city-owned grocery stores will only guarantee lower prices for a core ‘basket of goods’ These stores don’t have to pay property taxes & they still won’t have lower prices across the board! Any guess on whether the stores will also lose money? nypost.com/2026/04/14/us-…

@Ed_Realist @AlecMacGillis @elliew0lfe You literally just undermined your white flight argument with your own words. More likely Asians out compete and out perform. “Whites and asians have the same admit rate, but >>twice as many whites<< as Asians apply.”

It was already pretty Asian. My guess is some degree of white flight. Pretty well-documented reality that any time an educational institution gets too Asian, it repels Americans of all races, but it shows up in white percentages. For example, NYC's specialized high schools. Whites and asians have the same admit rate, but twice as many whites as Asians apply. educationrealist.wordpress.com/2021/08/01/whi…

Not long ago, Johns Hopkins boasted high Black and Hispanic numbers. Then came SCOTUS ruling and a huge reversal: Today, 45% of freshmen are Asian-American, up from 26% just 2 yrs ago. And that doesn't include int'l students, mostly from Asia. @elliew0lfe: thebanner.com/education/high…

@notafinger42 @latimeralder That's not factual. Modern wind turbines last 25+ years and are only maintained once a year. They earn back the financial investment in 6-8 months and the carbon footprint in under a year.

@notafinger42 @latimeralder As for "dispatchable power", it's not really a big issue, when you (like Norway and Denmark) are part of the European energy grid. On high production days you sell cheap energy to the rest of Europe, on low production days you buy from them.

@Broccolidwarf @latimeralder And ridiculously expensive to maintain. They wear out prematurely. Need incredible amounts of energy to build and maintain. There is a small case for solar, a lesser case for wind, and absolutely zero case for offshore wind.

@notafinger42 @latimeralder The key to renewables is putting them in the right place. For instance our ocean turbines produce far more than wind turbines on land, because it's "always" windy in the North Sea.

@Broccolidwarf @latimeralder Calling hydo renewable hides the fact that it is not practical in most of the world. Is infinitely more reliable than wind and solar, and unlike wind and solar it is dispatchable power.

@notafinger42 @latimeralder As for me being confused, no I am not. 98% of their electricity is renewable. If it was not renewable, it would be fossil fuel based or nuclear. It's not a valid point that renewables made no difference.
