The New York Times charges $17/month. The Wall Street Journal charges $38/month. Nature charges $199/year. Someone just open sourced a proxy that bypasses all of them for $0. And publishers cannot shut it down. It's called Ladder. Here's the trick that makes it work: Every news site and academic journal on earth shows Google the full article text for free. They have no choice. Block Googlebot and you disappear from search results overnight. Ladder pretends to be Googlebot. Same headers. Same fingerprint. Same access Google gets. → Paste any paywalled URL → Full article loads instantly → No account. No subscription. No credit card. → Works on NYT, WSJ, Bloomberg, Nature, Science, The Lancet, The Atlantic, and hundreds more → Also strips CORS headers from any URL, which saves developers a stupid amount of time Publishers got 12ft killed by pressuring the domain registrar. Ladder runs on your own server. There's no domain to seize. No company to pressure. No central server to shut down. One Docker command. Your machine. Your rules. 6.3K stars. not one to focus on copycats, would rather build heads down, but things are getting out of control apps are blatantly stealing our app screens, content and creators and lying to users case 1) macropal - ripped our screenshots exactly - app doesn't even match screens - directly poaching our creators

.@signulll says we're still in the stone age of AI tools: "I don't think most people are utilizing them anything beyond the basics." "We're in the stone ages of how people view and perceive and use these things, even though there's a billion people utilizing them, but they're not utilizing them to the full capabilities." "The number one challenge... is how do we make this stuff, the power of the models more easily accessible and useful in terms of what they can do." "I think this is happening with agents. It's happening today, but it still seems very primitive and very inaccessible to a lot of individuals... we need to make this stuff much more easily accessible and useful for individuals."

I have a new thing on the Orange Newsletter App! It's called "Real Research on Artificial Intelligence" It's an NRG channel where I share, weekly, our original survey research on AI Latest post: a lot of normal people think AI is a fancy search engine. And if you weigh "the destruction of your job, many humanity" against "great search" you can see why some people might be uneasy

@iamgingertrash Wellll, you can’t use a symmetrical wave to describe an asymmetrical process. If one party shifts significantly further from the historical norm than the other, the graph fails because the median line bends, not just oscillated around. Unless your reply was trying to ELI5 the op

Power in the United States, is expressed as a divergent sinusoidal 1) Sinusoidal because it alternates between the left and right 2) divergent because each ruling classes pushes the boundaries on authoritarianism The next dem trifecta will be even worse than the Biden era

@____NanaKong Not the point I was trying to make, by the way His politics put Martian colonies at risk because of how power seems to obey a diverging sinusoidal wave in the U.S. This means that the next Dems are going to use Trump era authoritarianism, and worse SpaceX can be stolen

@TaylorLorenz Actually contributed to a paper on this! Hollywood is experiencing a localized industry crisis =/= the LA real estate market governed by a broader regional housing shortage. Growth in defense tech and aerospace sectors brings in high-income renters to offset the decline.
