It kinda seems like people are just copying what Black Americans say even when it doesn't make sense? "Where would you be without us" makes sense for a minority that's been in the country for 400 years, not a refugee who came in a decade ago.

A Syrian artist living in Berlin posted a video now trending across Germany. Germany welcomed Syrian refugees during and after the civil war and have no colonial past in Syria to atone for. What do they get in return? Resentment, a Third-Worldist rant basically about Western colonizers as eternal oppressors. The contrast with Syria itself is what makes this interesting. Syrians inside Syria today want the West. They want a peaceful Damascus, a functioning banking system, trade, integration into the global economy. The loudest anticolonial voices and movements now sit in Western capitals advocating for things their own people aren’t aligned with.

I amplify these things happen in Chicago because I live in Chicago but if you have oatmeal for brains it’d be extremely difficult for you to figure that out based off my username I guess.
You’ll have to excuse my ignorance, I didn’t realize that being stabbed while walking down the street was supposed to be considered normal & “just the way of the world”.
