Okay a week removed from the World Cup, we can all agree that Diego Luna would’ve changed nothing, right? You mean to tell me Pulisic, Dest, McKennie were ineffective against Belgium but this little fella was gonna unlock the game for us? 😂

@RGIII @OuttaPocketRG3 @Gretegiii Stop listing problems and not solutions it’s like saying RGIII wasn’t a good qb in the nfl because he didn’t develop in the NFL and didn’t win the Super Bowl. There are massive underlying issues and problems that have solutions that are not being addressed.

Soccer is booming in the United States and World Cup viewership shows there is MASSIVE interest, but it will never be the priority and always play 5th fiddle to the Big 4 sports in America unless Americans fundamentally change their approach to youth sports. American Soccer is behind the rest of the world for 3 reasons: 1. Cultural Sporting DNA In the USA, Soccer competes in a crowded field of Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey instead of dominating like abroad. Europe and the rest of the world built soccer through community clubs, local pride and it being their default sport. They are born with a soccer ball on their feet. 2. Pay-to-Play Barrier In the USA most youth are priced out of playing because the cost to be on the team is too expensive. Currently there is a 14% decline in youth soccer participation between ages 6 to 12. Europe and the rest of world’s accessible club model keeps more kids in the game longer. 3. Less participation in the sport An all time high 16.8 million youth played outdoor soccer in the USA in 2025, but per capita the USA is far behind other European countries like Belgium which has a 3x higher rate of participation for its population size. For American soccer to catch up, it has to change its sporting culture focus to development instead of making money and lower the cost barrier for participation through state and government funded clubs over the next 20 years. Development needs to be the priority, not maximizing how much money can be made off the athlete and their parents. Instead of focusing on the old statement of “if our best athletes played”, focus on making the best athletes want to keep playing and the ones who do play the beautiful game better at it. Then and only then can we find our Erling Haaland, Lamine Yamal, Messi, Ronaldo or Jude Bellingham. We have to build the structure for them to develop in. #FIFAWorldCup #FIFAWorldCup2026 #Football #Soccer #RG3 #OuttaPocket #USA

Spain 🇪🇸 is in the final! The more "athletic" team, by FAR, got dominated. Imagine that. If only France 🇫🇷 had even better athletes. 😂

@dayglowraven Obviously everyone has their bias, but look at this guys recent podcasts and predictions on the wc. @343 knows ball. He may have a valid point or two.

@PaulSpacey 100%. It is ironic how the soccer culture doesn’t reflect the American culture of resiliency, competition and work ethic.

Stop with this weak BS now. Trying to coddle or shelter kids from any kind of disappointment or struggle is the worst thing you can do for character development.

@MLS @AppleTV I am in a pickle, I asked the Americans this morning (but no response yet) who to follow? It is a long story so I will not post here- but who? Love the sport but live in the US and want to embrace it here, so who? #makeyourcase 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@AlexMSilverman @SBJ @MLS Gimmick after gimmick after gimmick. The attendance at the World Cup has been great despite the prices. Free admission to a game isn’t going to solve anything. It’s not about marketing! We have the audience! Make them feel raw emotion and connection!

@dpshow @KevinFrazier I get the sentiment, and it comes from a good place. Pay to play is an issue, but not THE issue. @AlexiLalas is right in the fact that we can’t make everything free. THE issue is the closed pyramid. Open the pyramid and the rest will come.

@yimbyman These are investments protected by MLS. Additionally, there are cities and states without MLS teams which makes it more difficult to roll up to the stadium on a weekly basis.

@yimbyman Low hanging fruit: poor quality. The truth: it’s boring. 18 out of 30 teams get a chance at MLS playoffs. “Soccer Capital of America” KC finished dead last in 2024 and second to last in 2025. They’re in dead last again. These are MLS franchises, not clubs.

What’s up with Americans wanting to support a team from England instead of your local team? The Premier League is great, watch it, but pick your own local MLS team, go to the stadium and have a good time. Soccer isn’t going to grow here if you just watch foreign leagues
Donté L. Stallworth@DonteStallworth

It’s time, I need to pick a Premier League team! I’ve been locked into the World Cup since I was drafted in ‘02 and the global games from Copa to Euros to AFCON for over a decade Narrowed it down to: Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, or Man Utd. Who should I choose & why?
