@bongomansam The thing I struggle with is Jared is in forefront of people saying pay players what they deserve, players can hold out for better pay/circumstances, etc and now he wants to attack Jake for basically asking for what he preaches Jake isn’t absolved of blame but this is shitty imo

Seems like Jake was, (rightfully) upset about not being paid, (unrightfully) made demands that couldn’t be met, got pissed (presumably because he hadn’t been paid in a month) left a mess in his wake. Kinda just seems like a shitty situation for everyone involved
Jared Carrabis@Jared_Carrabis

nobody got paid. we were all unemployed. a company did not exist. if he were to file for unemployment, I’m assuming it would’ve been with Underdog, not me. he wasn’t my employee, he was my co-worker. our contracts expired and we were figuring out what the next move was. everyone got paid for the first time on May 8. he resigned on March 31. of those five weeks he was “unpaid”, we weren’t doing shows for four of them. I was on the phone getting sponsors to help pay for everybody seven days a week, all hours of the day, so that we could try to go independent. that wasn’t even set in stone yet because we were also talking to media companies. he did three shows and then quit on the spot (with no notice and refused to help Emond and Jeremy with a transition on how to produce the shows) because I wouldn’t put in writing what his salary and equity would be when we had just started the process of getting sponsorship. we weren’t even remotely close to being able to put those things in writing. we had no idea what to expect for revenue at that point, so I thought it was an unfair ask given where all of us were at. again, nobody was getting paid, myself included. I had also just purchased everybody brand new laptops for about 15 grand out of my own pocket, him included, because they had company laptops that got locked and didn’t have their own. if I hadn’t done that, the shows would’ve gone on a second hiatus in about two months. I did not ask for or expect to be paid back by him or anybody else. if he had come to me as a friend and said times were tough, I would’ve helped him as best as I could. I’ve offered the same to Tyler many times. he didn’t do that. there’s more to that exchange and important context and I will gladly fill in the rest of the details on the podcast. my response to him wasn’t super warm, but there’s justifiable reason for that. I’ve got nothing I can’t explain in regards to all of this. also want to note that I hate that it’s come to this becuse I was happy to just go our separate ways and thank him for his contributions on the show when we announced his departure and just leave it at that. I genuinely mean it when I say we would’ve never gotten to this point without him, but I won’t stand for the picture he’s painted because it’s not right.

@Jared_Carrabis @dead_baseball Well I appreciate the replies and you being reasonable. I am withholding opinion until we see the details. Personally it seems like both sides made mistakes and reconciliation needs to be made from both parties.

it wasn’t unreasonable to me. I would’ve absolutely given him equity because he helped build this thing. it just was not a reasonable ask when we didn’t know what the hell was going on at that time. I gave him a general idea of what his base pay would be and what his upside percentage would be. we were not (and still aren’t) at the handing out equity phase yet. expecting that at the stage we were at at that time is so unrealistic. happy to pay him for the three shows he produced before quitting on a prorated rate based on the salary I had verbally discussed with him. haven’t spoken to him since he quit. he hasn’t reached out and he did not answer my call when I called him yesterday nor did he return my call.

If he wasn't an employee and nobody was employed, how did he quit/resign from the job? Expecting someone to be unemployed, unpaid, and with no certainty on future pay to keep doing the job and if they don't they're "fucking everyone over" is a pretty crazy expectation.

@SkyDaddy562 @DanteTheDon I think we generally agree then. I just personally think it needs to be a larger priority to investigate us when the evidence is so abundant and perpetrators of the crimes walk free. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect these people pay for their crimes.

I respect that being your feeling on it but every celebrity that day was friends with Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby didn’t get investigated because of being friends with them. That’s just not how it works. Just like it wouldn’t work for me or you. I am totally with you if there is evidence of it then not only should it be prosecuted, we should know why it took three presidencies for it to happen. But I’m also not willing to crucify people on conjecture, conspiracy, snd coincidence.

@Jared_Carrabis @dead_baseball Well an equity split def seems a bit excessive for a producer of a podcast so I can reason with you there. That being said, I can’t see why it wasn’t reasonable to commit to pay for the unpaid week. Again idk what idk, but I find it hard to believe jake wasn’t open to diff terms

because that’s not what he was asking for. he wanted an equity split etc. in writing and we had just started the process of going independent a few weeks prior. it was absurdly early to put things like that in writing when I was still tracking down sponsorship to be able to afford everyone. everyone but him understood they would be paid when money came in. and they were immediately when that money came in.

@SkyDaddy562 @DanteTheDon I mean tons of pictures and emails showing famous people/law makers being friends with Epstein should be enough reason to look into those relationships. Not sure why that’s controversial, the guy sex trafficker kids and I think it’s reasonable to want to know who the people were

@Jared_Carrabis @dead_baseball I definitely understand that UD was writing the checks and when they didn’t renew you, you didn’t have an income source for the show. My question/issue (not going to pretend I know details I don’t know) is why you couldn’t put in writing that you would pay Jake when able to

@dead_baseball we were on hiatus for four of those five weeks while I gathered sponsorship and we were not recording shows, so even suggesting it was that much was disingenuous. he has my number if he’d like to discuss.

@Jared_Carrabis @dead_baseball So Jake said he isn’t helping unless he is compensated? Jared I’ve been a fan since 2016-17 but this is leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Just because it is a startup doesn’t mean Jake should reasonably expect to not always be paid for work he performs. Your being a bitch

I am just using the terms he used. he contacted me to say he resigned from his position, even though none of us were employed at the time. I didn’t expect anybody to stay on board for a startup situation where there was uncertainty about what we’d be paid, how we’d be paid or when we’d be paid. everyone made that decision on their own that they were down to do what we had to do to make it work. nobody was asked to do that. it was just what we knew had to happen if we were going to keep the band together and everyone else understood that. lastly, and I’ve already addressed this, but if the startup life and the uncertainty isn’t for you, that’s fine! no harm, no foul, thanks for your contributions. but he bounced unexpectedly and did not help Emond and Jeremy who had to take his place on a moment’s notice and had no idea how to do his job at the start. they were supposedly his friends (they were literally hanging out the night before) and he basically let them suffer to prove a point about his value. I’ll never understand doing that to someone I considered a friend. be mad at me if you want (even though that didn’t make sense either), but those guys were up until 5am on record nights trying to make sure the audio was sounding acceptable and then getting shit about it the next day on the Reddit and in the YouTube comments when that was never their responsibility. I could never do that to someone I cared about. also keep in mind that Jeremy has a newborn baby and is still trying to step up with these crazy late nights/early mornings in his supposed friend’s absence. hope that answers your questions!

@SkyDaddy562 @DanteTheDon Yes stuff involving victims identity shouldn’t be included, but everything else should be available for the public. And these “millions of docs and random emails” are evidence in one of the largest sex trafficking operations of all time not some petty evidence to a tiny crime

Well some of it strictly because it can’t because of privacy laws to protect victims as well as attorney client privilege. When people say “Epstein files” they may not realize they’re referring to million of documents that are completely irrelevant because they’re random emails or unsubstantiated allegations. Those make for fun conspiracy fodder but they lack hard evidence.

@SkyDaddy562 @DanteTheDon The DOJ themselves have said the full files are not released. Why not release them, especially if Trump is clean? They are release though. There is no evidence that there are any mysterious files, that can be released, that haven’t been released. People have just been spun into a tizzy over the last 15 years about Epstein and have convinced themselves there is more to it than some fucking scumbag who had his assistant, and eventually other victims, traffic underage girls to him. That’s what the evidence as we know it shows us. Was Epstein also connected with lots of well known people? Of course. But that’s not proof of sexual misconduct any more than Weinstein being friends with every celebrity in Hollywood is.

@SkyDaddy562 @DanteTheDon Fair. It’s also fair to question what the modern conservative is. Your Israel stance is true in concept, except Gallrein is just the opposite, very pro Israel. He’s just as loud, only the other way. Regarding Epstein, the files still aren’t released, I think Massies vindicated

We can certainly the discuss the debates of his politics. Massie has always had a very good track record when it comes to fiscal responsibility. But he seems to have e become more concerned with fame and Israel than good representation of his district. He grandstanded forever on Epstein files that never proved any of the allegations that he was insinuating and then decided to paint anyone who disagreed as complicit and die in that hill he did.

@iiz2c @kaitlancollins Remind me what happened in April of 2022? Russia invading Ukraine spiked gas/oil prices across the globe. We currently have high energy prices because the president is waging yet another pointless war in the Middle East for nuclear bombs “he fully destroyed” last summer
