PoW is fundamentally more decentralized and censorship-resistant than PoS. With PoW, cheap energy is the strongest determining factor in participating in transaction selection. With PoS, wealth is the determining factor. Cheap energy is far more distributed than wealth.

Theory: if ETHs success is as big as some believe, fees and congestion will make it unusable for anyone except for settlement. The narrative will adopt the current Bitcoin narrative of “it’s a settlement layer”
