Why is this baffling? This is the negotiation position they’ve arrived to as consenting adults.
If he’s smart, he’ll do everything to avoid common law status, but based on the fact she called into the show and will likely bring this up at first opportunity, it is unlikely they’d still be together.

That would involve discussing the matter like rational people, rather than calling in a show to get advice from a public figure and putting his business out in the open for the world to hear about.
If I were the man in this scenario and my standard was no debt, I would hold to it.
There is no incentive for him to change or to accept less than his standard.
He is the rare commodity in this scenario. Nurses with debt are easy to come by. Not sorry.

Men, imagine it. No more cheating. No more double lives. No more secrecy. A man who can love and cherish however many wives he chooses has no reason to sneak off to porn, the strip club, or prostitution. We've proven that criminalizing it and shaming people won't solve it. Should a guy ever get Botox? At 50, I look in the mirror and think “Don’t you ever die you good lookin thing!”. But then I see a photo of myself and think “Holy sh*t, who is that old geezer?!?”. Crazy how a mirror & a photo differ in your mind so much. Wife’s 40 & been gettin Botox for at least a decade. Has absolutely zero wrinkles. So I thought “Hmmm, maybe I can hang on for just a few more years.” But then I think “That’s so stupid, just let it go, you’re old now!” Is it just way too vain for a guy to do something about their wrinkles?
