@SPtravelsalot The last government tried to ram stuff down our throats, after the country lost it's mind and gave them an absolute majority. Resentment to this was building steadily. Enough to cost them the election. The coalition is trying to calm things down.

@FrancisLReid Italy does public transport really well. Even elderly people use it effectively up until a very frail old age. AoNZ is ridiculously slow to adapt to actual needs.

In Milan for a few days. They have trams that run at street level including on sections of track that look like this.
Because I’m from the Auckland the questions are why isn’t the tram in a stupidly expensive tunnel and why isn’t this space used for additional car lanes?

Can we retire "destroy your body" language around birth? I know complications sometimes happen and that the pelvic floor takes a while to recover, but moms aren't "destroyed."

A plea to check your KiwiSaver status, and if needed make the one-off low-admin decision to change providers and risk profiles. Staying with low-risk default providers just leaves (shittonnes) of money on the table.
