The biggest criticisms of the Sequel Trilogy is the way JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson handled Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo.
After watching the Director’s Commentary for both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in the past 48 hours, I am resolute in my conviction that the time gap between VI and VII is the reason we have a broken and exiled Luke Skywalker, divorced and despondent Han Solo, and strong but removed from real influence over the Republic version of General Leia that we get in the Sequels.
You can blame Disney. You can blame JJ. You can blame Rian. But the blame goes on George
The Sequels are “missed opportunities” to bring the OT Trinity back together for another crazy adventure because the actors who play those characters are old and incapable of executing such a story.
That is why we got The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. (The Rise of Skywalker is a feeble attempt and salving the wounds of insecure fans who don’t realize that).
For Star Wars to move forward in a relevant and epic way, they need to continue the story of Rey.
That must be done while Daisy Ridley is capable of doing what Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford couldn’t in the ST.

If you're questioning why Kinberg's Star Wars trilogy is being called Episodes X-XII and why Lucasfilm is "rushing" to a new trilogy, you really need to stop listening to deranged outrage merchants on the internet. Despite what some guy with a webcam living out of his mom's house tries to tell you, Lucasfilm isn't erasing or ignoring the Sequel characters. In fact, it's the exact opposite. They want to be able to do what George didn't do in the 90s and have sequels with the latest characters. They want to have more movies with Rey, Finn, Poe, etc. but they don't want to wait 35 years to do that. Next summer's Starfighter is the first step towards that. It's set five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Then the "Rey movie" (which is probably now Kinberg's Episode X) was said to be set another ten years after that (fifteen years after the Sequels).

Just walked out of Backrooms. Not because of the movie but because every quiet scene was accompanied by the sound of everyone around me having full on conversations. Movie theaters are dying because people who cant shut the fuck up for 2 hours are killing them.

Rey’s Jedi Order HAS to be destroyed and she MUST be written out of the story. It’s the only way to make her a complex and relatable character which is far more interesting than her being an unstoppable, infallible god level character.

@7vevr As long as you can acknowledge that he IS a good duelist though i can agree with this take. Keep in mind in s1 he literally beat Bandit Keith who at the time was a major contender and was actively cheating.
But I do agree he was overhyped especially by Pegasus in GX.

@emkenobi TBF if it’s Rey focused it’s kind of the best of both worlds. She has the name but not the blood, so she’s continuing it but also revolutionizing it. If we actually get Master Rey even as a mentor figure for new MC’s I’d be happy with that.

@Heartfelia9175 Lucy definitely reaches her tier of power even if I’d still say Erza is stronger. Lucy may not be the strongest CQC fighter but she has better casting feats with Urano Metria, Multiple Spirit Summons, and when she performed Celestial King Summoning. Im not caught up on 100yq tho

@KhaledHossam206 @SheevTalks Filoni has good projects and good episodes. He’s not the worst writer but he’s far from the best either. I genuinely think Star Wars in general is way too polarized on both sides. The hate AND glaze from both sides is exhausting, and very few fandoms are THIS divided…
