Higher interest rates on premium bonds from July and savings products from today with @nsandi. Premium bond prizes are taxfree so higher rate taxpayers who’ve used up their £500 allowance and their ISA will get good returns from the £50,000 max in PBs.

@nsandi still holding on to money that is not theirs and keeping bereaved families waiting indefinitely whilst they sort out there own mess. Not good enough! Weeks later and apparently if I'm lucky I may get it in another 3 weeks or so but no guarantees 🤬

Starting to think @nsandi is a complete scam now, £30,000 worth of savings and nothing won for 2 months since the changes in April…. Really considering withdrawing my money

@bejokex @nsandi I’m starting to think it’s a scam. I see people with barely any investment winning, I’ve not won anything for months and months

@nsandi How do you want to be messaged? As you security team treated my dad badly just so he could get into his account to pay for care. And this hard nosed woman didn't care... Was horrible... And won't even tell us why you switched off his account.

@nsandi what a horrible company. Security turned my dad's account off trying to tx money for his care cost. Trying to get a 92 year old who had a mini stroke through the security department questioning, it was bullying and harassment. The woman was horrible uncaring. Avoid.

We're extremely sorry that some estates of deceased customers were not repaid money from all of their NS&I accounts following a bereavement claim. NS&I will contact estates that are affected and will publish further information in due course. nsandi.com/help/lost-touc…

If you call @nsandi, to discuss your premium bonds or savings accounts, you must give 2 characters of your online password to the support agent. This is horribly insecure and bad practice. NS&I is the UK's state-owned savings bank, funding HM Treasury. It is a unique bank in that 100% of your savings are protected, to an unlimited amount. UK retail banks meanwhile offer protection up to £120,000. Passwords should be only known to you of course, and entered only in official logins in apps and websites. We're told countlessly to never give them out, and that no legitimate person — not your bank, not the police — would ask for them. The peculiar thing is that everyone already has a PIN with NS&I, used for high-risk transactions, which would also be ideal for customer service. They seemingly go to great lengths to protect your 4-6 digit PIN, but not your password. If you set up your PIN or registered phone number during your call, the agent says we need to take you to a secure system to input these, resulting in a bizarre situation of the agent seemingly creating a "secure line" with some beeps and buzzes, reading out 6 random digits to another agent, who then says "authentication complete". When this new agent takes over, you enter the PIN and phone number digits yourself on your telephone keypad. Evidently, for selective character password input to work, passwords cannot be hashed or securely stored, but must be saved in cleartext in the database. Passwords also have a maximum length of 20 characters. It's bad if you're among the majority of people who still use memorable, simple and similar passwords for everything. If you kindly inform the support agent that this password-on-the-phone practice is insecure and dangerous, and that you would like to proceed with the PIN or another verification, they read a script that "it's just 2 random characters" and that this is standard and fully secure. They refuse to provide another route to authentication. For the web account, 2FA is default. To complete login, you need to enter a 6-digit code texted to your mobile phone. NS&I have so many credentials also — your NS&I account number (your username), surname (also part of your username), email address, phone number (2FA is default), password (entered in full online; 2 characters on phone), PIN and 3 security questions (yes, it's school, teacher and pet questions). Oh and if you press the back button on any webpage while logged in, it logs you out. I worry what this means for session state and session fixation. Please sort out this sorry state of affairs, NS&I and HM Treasury.
