Several are still under observation in similar circumstances. Rajasthan Govt suspended some doctors & nurses & started the probe. Result of this investigation was faulty oxytocin injections. It had just water in them. Oxytocin helps in inducing childbirth and also controls excessive postpartum bleeding. Injecting women with just water caused their deaths and other complications related to kidneys. These injections were supplied by Jackson Laboratories based in Punjab. Rajasthan Govt has announced to take legal action on them. Punjab has scrapped the licence of this firm & ordered a nationwide recall of their injections. Just in Kota, they send 16,000 such injections. Further shocking is the fact that the firm was making these despite stop-production orders three years ago. Jackson Lab says they were making these as per norms. Don’t know what will happen next. But, we cannot be a serious nation with such level of negligence.
