@GhislainGir I'm a Unity user and I abuse vertex offset like crazy, although NPR rendering in Unity in general seems to be more versitile the UE and have written extensions for Vertex Animation via VAT and abuse a ton of WPO for cheap VFX.

Nanite Programmable Path seems too costly to consider WPO for the most basic things... Uh, I don't like it. Feels like everything I'm tempted to do as a tech artist is no longer an option. Moving vertices used to be cheap :( So here's a hacky NO-WPO prototype 🧵

Unity's AI 3D generator just dropped and game devs are already worried 😅 Not because it doesn't work — but because it works just enough to flood Steam with another wave of zero-effort asset slop. Million-poly single meshes. Impossible to rig. Impossible to animate. But visually convincing enough to fool a thumbnail 👀 The real question isn't "can AI make 3D models?" when scattering images as planes, we face the ugly blade looking like of some which aren't facing the viewport, here is a simple fix, just make them disappear by comparing their normal with the incoming ray through the dot product operation. #blender #b3d #blendercommunity

Tried rigify on the models I have and I am admittedly not patient enough (read not skilled enough) n rigging to do a proper job, been close many times but keep getting unwanted glitches holding me back from the fun part of storytelling - suspect a combo between weights and proper associations, but thanks for the suggestion though.

How Vertex Animated Textures work. Nice for real time FX that you want to pause/ rewind, just read the texture in reverse. Utilized rigid body sim in Blender and baked it using the OpenVAT extension, created by Luke @numlokke #ue5 #realtimevfx #techart #gameart #indiedev
