God desires that we courageously step up and break the chains of destructive patterns afflicting our generation.

Something happened yesterday at the airport while we were boarding. Some people were trying to jump the queue, but one man stood his ground. He loudly insisted that the airline staff should not attend to anyone who was not on the queue, but they did anyway.
In protest, he pushed his way to the front and blocked the entrance, vowing that no one would board if order wasn’t respected. His approach got a bit aggressive, he banged on the door, clearly upset.
After about three minutes, things calmed down. But then came the twist: the airline staff announced that the man would not be allowed to fly. Their reason? He had tried to disrupt operations.
What struck me most was how the rest of us, those of us who had benefited from his protest, said nothing. None of us stepped in to plead his case. We all simply moved on. The 'messiah' was left alone, and just like that, he became quiet.
The lesson I took away was simple. When you stand up for others, remember to do it with wisdom. Because in the end, people will act like they never asked for your help. You will hear: “Did we send you?”

@bellosaleh What a world we now live in, agents of perdition everywhere. God bless her soul and grant your nephew rest. I am deeply sorry.

My sister-in-law, a good woman, died today in Sokoto. Just finished her jana’iza prayers a moment ago.
She had been unwell from the psychological trauma of losing her son.
The boy, my nephew, a promising young engineer fresh out of school with a good job working for a Chinese engineering firm, was shot point blank in the head and left to bleed out in the rain in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. It happened two years ago and just a few months to his wedding.
The shock never left her and she had been unwell since the day he died. She finally succumbed this morning.
Directly or indirectly, near or far, we are all victims of these senseless acts of violence.
We all know the reason why our IDPs are full or why pre-teen kids and girls are roaming our streets begging, or why our young men are migrating south in search of any means of survival or why many of our northern villages are now ‘kufai’ or desolate.
The reason is unmitigated violence visited on a hapless and defenceless population that have no means of fighting back.
It is either insurgency in the N/East, banditry in the N/West or farmer/herder clashes on the plateau.
Yet our political elite continue their games as if this is all some Kannywood show.
None of them seem to care enough to make this a national issue. And even when given the opportunity to do so, their response more often than not, only politicises these tragedies and not proffer any meaningful solution.
Yet, the way out of this has to come from us northerners. Not Abuja or anywhere else.
#Arewa is badly in need of a different type of politics.
May Allah grant his mercy to my sister-in-law, my nephew and to every victim of this menace.

I have been to about 30 states in Nigeria, and Lagos was the last state I visited. It was a significant shift from what I saw in other states.
If you grew up in Lagos, it is easy to be dismissive of the work of Tinubu, Fashola, Ambode and Sanwo Olu.
Please take a road trip to Abuja from Lagos using the Jebba/Minna route, and pounder on the things you see.
I have never thought the leadership in Lagos was perfect, but boy, they are heads and shoulders ahead of any state on this regard.

@OurFavOnlineDoc No matter how we feel let's also remember it's not easy to beg. If you can help go ahead and do it if you can't explain politely that way you won't feel guilty. Sorry about your friend.

@OurFavOnlineDoc Not your fault, not your responsibility. You should have never given him all the support in the first place. Friendship should come with defined boundaries

@Wizarab10 Rape is a chain of destructive patterns afflicting our generation. Say No to Rape.
English

There is a gang rape video that is spreading on X. For the life of me, I do not understand why people enjoy rape videos when someone is being violated. Rape in itself is a terrible experience, how much worse a gang rape. We should talk about it.
I struggle to understand why anyone would rape. Rape is a theft and an invasion. You steal a person's right to consent to whom they share their body with, and you invade their body without regard to their person. Dignity of human person is a fundamental human right, but even more than that, a common sense approach in dealing with people. Everyone reserves a right to consent.
The fight against rape has been long and bumpy, and that is why we must keep speaking up. People of all ages are being raped and having their bodily autonomy stolen from them. To be a decent human is not hard, you just have to be humane and see the other person as human. We even have adults who violate children that cannot protect themselves or speak up for themselves, leaving them with a ripple effect of compound damages.
For the poorly educated who make argument about wetness and erection to prove consent, or orgasm to prove that the person enjoyed the rape, please understand that an erect penis or lubricated vagina, isn't necessarily a sign of arousal. It is called Arousal Non-concordance. That is where your bodily reaction and your sexual desires are not in alignment, because blood flowing to your genitals does not mean you are mentally interested in sex. Rape and arousal can happen simultaneously, and one does not exclude the other. Orgasm during rape isn't an expression of pleasure. It is an example of an involuntary response to pleasure. The body responds to pain and pleasure regardless of how you feel.
Now, to the rape itself, there is a cold-hearted wickedness to insisting on a right to possess something that isn't yours and isn't your to take, and taking it by force. Even when two consenting adults are having sex, you have to exercise grace and kindness to understand how their body is reacting to it so you can make love to them right and understand when they need a breather or stop when they need you to stop. Imagine what it means to be violated because rape is a violation. Now imagine 4 to 5 guys taking turns to rape one lady.
There is the denial that comes with disbelief that this is happening to you. Then there is the fear because you can't even react for fear of harm. The eyes that are heavy with tears that refuse to flow. The plea that skips the rapists and echoes somewhere in the mountain. The silent prayer for the ground to swallow you. The lips that screams words that cannot be uttered. The blank stare of the ceiling watching you violated. The sweating skin beneath a blanket of shame. The deadness of the light in the eyes that is clouded by a hollowness that would remain a mainstay through relived trauma. Then the injurious wickedness to your body because they neither care how your feel or how much you hurt. They are there to orgasm and will not stop till they ejaculate. For gang rape, it is a continuous violation that leaves you dead in body and spirit, and you juat want to take your life.
I hope wherever she is, she gets the help she needs with the injurious trauma she has to live with, and find someone that loves her right. To every rape victims - whether at childhood or adulthood, I hope you find healing in your body and your heart, never lose the light in your eyes and find strength to navigate this world and positively impact it. Blessings 🙏🏾
