We’ve never seen such low levels of testosterone in boys in history I work with hundreds of kids a week Over masculinity is hardly the overriding trait in this generation….. But let’s set fire to more £

@mboyle1959 @WSWayland Agreed. I’m fond of rear foot against a wall to reduce balance challenge but that next to a box to box SL dynamic bridge are my go to exercises

@lahti_johan I’ve been working with quantum movement for a while now, we use the Movella dot and GoPro together. I use for running, jumping and cutting assessments predominantly with players

im interesting in measuring pelvic kinematics during sprinting in a gym setting (treadmill or track). Looking for the cheapest streamlined option (so want the software to do the work) for quality measurements. Any advice on what IMU sensors could be good? Camera set up too expensive

@lahti_johan Agreed with the knee angle. I think this changes with the lower centre of mass which will reduce the shank angle and foot inclination angle increasing the hip extensor role. Lower COM, easier reacceleration. That's how I think of it....in a tweet

Yes agree thats why my original tweet aimed to not just look at it in isolation but consider post accel. It is interesting though the shank and heel strike discussion in the sagittal plane. Skillful decelerators step more in front of COM to increase force vector inclination, thus higher breaking forces. This would require a larger shank angle and heel striking, but i think the key is here that the knee is not locked and instantly roles to flexion IMO

deceleration: Are we okay with the lumbar flexing or even preferring it? Is there research looking at how spine movement eventually influences transition from deceleration to acceleration? We know from acceleration that the spine/pelvis staying relatively "still" is likely better for performance. The assumption is that its relatively neutral. But in deceleration you see a lot of demo videos and athletes breaking with flexed spines, what are your thoughts about this?

@lahti_johan I also think that lower COM and therefore increasing knee flexion is very important for reducing hamstring loading. Heel strike out in front is to be avoided and looking at shank angle, knee and trunk angle in sagittal plane is what I focus on

@lahti_johan I mean that I don't think it's a good idea to think of decel in isolation as it's always followed by a reacceleration. I think being in the best position to reaccelerate is the most important factor. It's very hard to avoid lumbar flexion + unnecessary but I want trunk flexion

@DeasunO Agree with that Des, tough conversation if he gets a lions selection. Looked a clear difference out wide in gamespeed

Unusual suggestion-Talented Sam Prendergast doesn’t go on summer tour and instead does a long preseason. He and ireland will gain long term. We also need to focus on gamespeed for our current and future wingers. Disappointing result but that’s sport. Lots to learn from a loss.

@spikesonly I'm looking at thigh segment angle (I have IMUs on shank, thigh, pelvis and thorax), pelvic tilt and thorax angle. I'll look to then capture with my playing group to identify those at risk of hamstring injury using those measures
