@DrJN_SportsMed @ExeterChiefs James, out of a genuine interest on peoples perspectives on the transfer of training (I’ve often wanted to do a Delphi study on this) why don’t you think the adaptations from this exercise would contribute to enhanced explosive off line movement?

@ExeterChiefs No wonder he's injured half the time - fairly pointless S&C work when his USP is explosive off line movement.

@Fit_For_Golf But this does inform my initial Q. You, and everyone linking ‘functional’ to the strength outcome Therefore a curl isn’t functional for a bodybuilder. I just could be functional for someone else Therefore training purely for aesthetic reasons isn’t functional?

Can/should a bodybuilder being on stage (being judged aesthetically) be considered function? I.e is hypertrophy a function? Is sarcoplasmic hypertrophy training therefore functional? Or is there no functional change? Just aesthetics? (There could be but it isn’t used in performance) Discuss

Loaded jumps. This is an all too often missed area in many golfers programmes but it is so important include variations of loaded jumps in golfers warm up and training. There is strong evidence linking force production during vertical jumping & club head speed/driving distance in amateurs and professionals Loaded vertical jumps form a key part of the S&C training for our golfers. They help increase your lower limb jump impulse and force production. There are many ways to do these and you can use dumbbells, kettlebells, trapbar and barbell and resistance bands. Loaded barbell squat jumps shown here by @DPWorldTour pro and winner John Parry

Warm ups for golf. Physical warm-ups play a crucial role in a professional golfer’s routine, with nearly all players incorporating them on tour. Engaging in loaded mobility exercises, along with heavier or more explosive movements, is essential for priming the body for optimal performance. However, these dynamic warm-up routines are often the aspects that amateur golfers unknowingly overlook. @DPWorldTour pro @PengeMarco users Kettlebell side lunges as part of his pre round warm up.
