I watched the segment and it was disgustingly inappropriate and completely unnecessary. The ABC is Australia’s taxpayer-funded national broadcaster. It should be held to a higher editorial standard than this. Whether you support or oppose Gina Rinehart is completely irrelevant. Broadcasting content that depicts or makes light of violence or torture directed at a real person is certainly not what Australians expect their public broadcaster to be producing. The ABC owes Australians an explanation as to how this made it through its editorial process and at the very least, there are serious questions to answer about the judgement exercised in approving and airing this content.
