Our City is overjoyed that Dylan has finally been released from detention and will be back home with his loved ones in the Bronx. What should have been a time for him to focus on finishing high school instead became ten long months of isolation, after he was taken into custody at what was supposed to be a routine immigration hearing last May. Throughout this injustice, Dylan has shown remarkable strength, resilience, and courage. I wish him a smooth and joyful return to his life, his community, and his future here in New York City. He is a New Yorker, and our city is glad to have him home.

Every veteran should have access to the benefits they've earned—but for thousands, that access remains out of reach. That's why NYLAG is launching a new Pro Bono Discharge Upgrade Clinic to increase our capacity to help connect NYC veterans with the benefits they deserve.

On Tuesday, November 18, we’re partnering with Stonewall Community Development Corporation, @JusticeCtrNews, and @NYLAG to host a free Estate Planning Legal Clinic! This builds on our efforts to prevent deed theft and protect the hard-earned assets of working families in NYC.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we're proud to announce a new city program funded and made permanent by the Council to give survivors free legal assistance for divorce proceedings, helping them safely separate from abusive partners and rebuild their lives with dignity.

"To me, it seems like cruelty is the point," the Director of NYLAG's Immigrant Protection Unit told @TheProspect. Whether someone is moved from New York to Louisiana or marked as "in transit," this movement makes it that much more difficult for them to meet with a lawyer.
