He doesn't promote that SWE is dead, but SWE is we know it could be dead soon, everything changes with time, that includes SWE. "Delved" does not mean he's a SWE. I write and talk about philosophy and politics, I'm neither a politician OR a philosopher, people have the freedoms to talk about whatever the hell they want, that's how it is

@o_codes_life @michael_kove This is not an eng vs. entrepreneurs thing. Garry delved into engineering when he started using LoC as a metric. As an entrepreneur, he shouldn't promote that. Nor should he promote that SWE is dead, it isn't and his sloppy blog is proof of that.

What IF this is a long brewing April Fool's joke that he's been pulling everyone's leg all this time? No way this can be real... I couldn't even do this if I tried. How does this even happen? I am legit curious.
gregorein@Gregorein

so... I audited Garry's website after he bragged about 37K LOC/day and a 72-day shipping streak. here's what 78,400 lines of AI slop code actually looks like in production. a single homepage load of garryslist.org downloads 6.42 MB across 169 requests. for a newsletter-blog-thingy. 1/9🧵

@ahmedehab_01 @michael_kove Gary does not sell himself as a great engineer or the best engineer. He's an entrepreneur first, and from that point of view he is 100% right, is more important to launch and to make money than engineering. Engineering usually comes later.

@o_codes_life @michael_kove If he doesn't understand, then he should relax it with the whole "slop code doesn't matter as long as you ship" type of comments he has been making lately. The problem is that Garry is not a nobody, he is one of the most influential CEOs at YC's CEO.

For what I see in people with no AI experience and then they get the whole AI power, they do not care about code, they care about doing things. I have committed that sin with the two platforms I'm building right now, but obviously not to that extreme, I check at least the code, do changes and try to make it decent. But imagine not having time to throw a single line of code, and now you can just fire an agent and do lots of things, it feels great, and I think is mostly about that feeling than about engineering

@chribjel Quite fucked up to do an april fools joke that accuses a company of close to criminal behavior. Some people won’t get that this is a joke. Make some jokes about your own company instead.

History is going to look on utterly bemused about how the United States created the most effective power-projection alliance in the history of the world, designed it explicitly so that the US did not have to intervene in its allies wars of choice, and then ended it when the allies did not intervene in an American war of choice.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Donald Trump has told The Telegraph's @connor_stringer he is strongly considering pulling the United States out of Nato after it failed to join his war on Iran. Read the US president's thoughts on what Putin thinks of the alliance and the UK's reluctance to spend on defence here 👇 telegraph.co.uk/world-news/202…

Ironically I'm convinced democracy might kinda work It just takes 3-5 years of shouting on X about an issue, getting told off for it and then suddenly the governments actually do what people said they should do on here I wonder if you can fasten that feedback loop from 5 years to 5 months or 5 weeks

We are fully living in the golden era of Mexico. It is the 12th happiest country on earth, and Mexico City just ranked 7th for the best cities in the world. The US ranks 23rd in happiness, with only New York City managing to edge out CDMX. The US media continues painting Mexico as a crime ridden place that is not safe to visit, but as the world wakes up to the beauty of Mexico, that old narrative rapidly loses its power.
