I often talk about how I did the Camino de Santiago on zero prep. I don't encourage this. My ankles gave out around Ponferrada. It's not a shameful thing, I walked over 500km to that point. But I took a train to Ourense and then on to Santiago de Compostela. (I did not attend Mass as I didn't see myself worthy) It was just 20% more of a pain in the ass than the rest of Western Europe. It's hard to articulate other than I had to calculate my own route and book it individually because the Spanish train system wanted to send me to Madrid.
