San Francisco based programmer Stefan Thomas has over $620 million in #Bitcoin locked on an IronKey USB drive.
He was paid 7,002 BTC in 2011 for making an educational video.
He lost the password in 2012 and has used 8 of his 10 allowed attempts
He has only two more attempts left before the device will encrypt its contents forever 🤯
@hesselbom I love the idea. I’d like to migrate all my notes here, but I’m concerned about losing my notes if the storage is out of commission. Is there a long term plan to self host or have users pay for managed storage, esp for those looking to integrate this fully?
LemonSqueezy rejected my note taking web app so I'm releasing it for free.
End to end encrypted offline markdown notes.
Everything encrypted with a vault key that never leaves your device, no one else can read it, not even me.
I use it all the time, even with sensitive data.
Traditional factory automation follows three rules:
1. Minimise degrees of freedom
2. Minimise actuation
3. Minimise the requirement for feedback
Let geometry and gravity do the hard work.
This is a step feeder. Reciprocating plates push parts upward, one step at a time. Parts that sit stable on the ledge rise to the top. Parts that don't? They tip off and fall back into the hopper.
A chain conveyor carries the parts along and a simple tool knocks off any that are misaligned.
No robot. No vision. No gripper. Just continuous circulation until every part finds its perfect orientation.
Bowl feeders, gravity slides, step feeders, escapements—all built on the same principle.
Constrain movement. Let shape and weight do the sorting.
Modern robotics throws sensors, actuators, and computing at every problem.
Sometimes the smarter move is less.
14 hour straight assembled another RC3 unit. Sending to HRA! in Japan. Sangria RC3 now has only one load switch waiting for shipping to test (GPS power), all other design verification is done!
@DeveloperHarris You can estimate the amount of soap dispensed without a sensor, yet you run into new annoyances caused by false negatives of an empty reservoir. Factors involving viscosity across soap brands due to formulation, atmospheric pressure, climate and tolerance stack-ups affect this.
isnt it strange how dishwashers need you to insert detergent every time
why does it not have its own tank from which it can dispense as needed and you replace it like once a month
im really bad at this. Im a bit of a workaholic. It's hard to step away from it all. And it kinda feels like it may all escape me?
but learning now the hard way that we need time off as well.
its actually more productive that way in the end!
take care 🩷
@WKCosmo I agree. That said, deciding what science to conduct requires some subjective discretion as outcomes are not guaranteed. Use of ethos and pathos are prioritized over logos by generating a hypothesis - a belief using your best judgment.
@MrmoTarius If I understand correctly, there are plugins that do this in Blender. Interested in working together on a small sample for a mobile app I’m building?
@yoheinakajima This is really something. Is it possible to combine relationships with the same name, but have them branch or diverge to multiple nodes, i.e a 1 -> many relationship?
@prash_singh@NatureMicrobiol I marvel at this. It reminds me of a time when I was bewildered by ATP synthase for the same reason. A biological hydro dam with a rotor, living in this mitochondria, believed to have originated from a bacteria living in symbiosis within us. Congrats!! This is beautiful.
My grandfather built motors that powered big machines. In a lab not so different from his workshop, my colleagues and I uncovered the assembly of the bacterial motor. Today, this discovery has been published in @NatureMicrobiol#MolecularNodes#Discoverynature.com/articles/s4156…
