Trump mistreated Europe for its weakness. Solution 1: go to China in hopes of being treated better; Solution 2: build up strength so nobody mistreats you anymore. There is a right solution, and then there is the one Europe will choose.

Spain passed a law banning trade in defense materials with Israel. Right away, it learned that Airbus, which accounts for 60% of Spain's air exports, cannot operate without Israeli tech and exempted it, gutting the law. So much of what Europe does today is pure virtue signaling.

Trump and Europe are equally responsible for the conflict within the alliance: Trump, by abandoning Ukraine and alienating allies with tariffs and annexation threats. Europe, by abandoning Israel and failing to rearm even after 4 years of full scale war on its doorstep.
