Yesterday I caught up with the guy who changed my life. 4+ years ago, he literally begged me on a random discord call to put money into a DeFi protocol (just before DefFi summer). We talked for 4-5 hours, and it hit me, without him pushing me into crypto, I'd have a totally different life. I'd be a chartered accountant with a 9 to 5, different lifestyle, different person, probably wondering "what if?". But I took the leap because he wouldn't stop calling me about it. I put my money in ETH, then that DeFi project, and that was the start of it all. Here's where the convo got interesting, He cashed out at the top that first cycle and left crypto fully to go into Web2. I round-tripped, lost a good chunk, but that loss is exactly why I stayed. It forced me deeper, made me learn culture, build relationships and understand the space. If I'd made instant money and left like he did, I wouldn't be here today. Accelerating the number one IP project, creating content, living with complete freedom. The roles have flipped completely. 4+ years ago he begged me to get into crypto, now I'm the one telling him to come back. Two completely different timelines both linking to a single phone call in 2021. He changed the course of my life without even knowing it, now I'm trying to return the favour. Full circle moment.

regardless of what you think about it, we’ve had hundreds of thousands of people now trade tokens on opensea and experience our new product features/platform. which has always been the goal. the point of the tweet going around was that driving inorganic volume on nfts harms the ecosystem. you don’t have that same result with tokens - and our program was built with that as a learning, not a foundation.

seeing people dig up takes from 2 years ago to try and dunk on me this am - never change crypto twitter 😅 thing is y’all aren’t even making the point you think you are lol our rewards program at os was designed specifically to disincentivize inorganic nft trading. yes, you can participate by trading nfts. but trading tokens is (a) cheaper re: fees, (b) provides far more liquidity and (c) yields the same result in our program dollar for for dollar. there’s simply no reason for someone to wash trade nfts in our program - they’d be paying more money, taking more risk, and putting in more effort, than the far easier alternative. we included nfts as a way to earn points because anyone who’s trading them on os should be rewarded. but they were incorporated thoughtfully with the past specifically in mind. we are taking a step back based on everyone’s feedback to think about how to improve the program moving forward. have a nice weekend y’all 😉

To whoever bought that Bored Ape for 666 $ETH last night, I’ve got bad news for you: Bored Apes aren’t coming back. Even if you’re betting on an upcoming NFT season (so am I), you can’t just rotate into dino collections that offer nothing but a PFP. That’s like buying $ADA or $LTC just because you expect a bull run. The meta has shifted. You want NFTs with strong leadership, real brand direction, and distribution through highly aligned, mission-driven communities. Look at what @LucaNetz has built with @pudgypenguins, or what @spencer is doing with @moonbirds right now. I expect even more cult-like leaders to emerge and follow their example. The only real exception is CryptoPunks. They’ve earned legacy status and are cultural artifacts by now. They’ll probably hit new highs we can’t even imagine. But that Bored Ape era is over. They had their chance, and they wasted it. Accept it and move on. There’s still time to rotate into winners.
