@end3of6days9 I have three in my kitchen because I live in an old camp with uneven walls. With no way to mount cabinets in a traditional sense, these are my cabinets!!! Highly recommend.

She turned tool chests into her coffee station and kitchen island… and it works surprisingly well. The wooden top gives it a warm, butcher-block feel, while the mix of shallow and deep drawers makes it excellent for organizing everything from small gadgets to bigger items. It offers way more functional storage than standard kitchen drawers or cabinets, and even though the rest of her kitchen has traditional cabinetry, these tool chests actually blend in and look great. It’s a sturdy, practical swap that adds serious workspace and storage without needing a full kitchen remodel. Would you ever consider using a tool chest as extra kitchen storage or an island?

Ian Weikel was my best friend when we were lieutenants. A year older and also married, I looked up to him and tried to follow his example. If I’ve been a good husband and Army Officer, it is in large measure because of him. Ian left this mortal world 20 years ago in April 2006 when an IED struck his vehicle near Taji, Iraq. I’ve worn his KIA bracelet 24/7 ever since as a reminder to be a good man. It’s well worn now and tough to read… on the rare occasion I do take it off, like to go through airport security, I have to put on my reading glasses to tell which way to put it on. There is probably some symbolism there about getting older, the years that have gone by, the life I’ve lived, and the presence Ian continues to have in my life. I’ve never really thought about it like that until now… While Ian was KIA that day in Iraq, he lives forever in me and every soldier I’ve ever led. He lives forever in those who loved him. He lives forever at the USMA Rugby complex where they’ve retired his jersey. He lives forever at the elementary school named in his honor on Ft Carson. If you’ve followed along with these posts this weekend, I appreciate it. I appreciate you taking the time to read & think about my friends. In that way, you have honored them. I saved Ian for last because I knew it would be tough. I owe him too much to accurately describe. Forever young and the best of all of us. Again, if you’re still reading - thanks. I really do hope you had a meaningful weekend.

Yesterday, a Gold Star wife asked if anyone could send her a picture of her husband’s grave in Arlington. Less than 24 hours later, @nicksortor didn’t just send her a video, he put flowers down. There are lots of good people on this app. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Good rainy morning from Arlington National Cemetery. Specifically, the final resting place of your hero husband Staff Sgt. Alan Shaw. His grave now has some fresh roses placed in front of it, alongside two American flags, a reminder that Americans truly appreciate his sacrifice. God bless you and your family on this Memorial Day 🙏🏻🇺🇸

You want to fix education? Count the administrators in your district. Then count the teachers. Then ask who is in the room with your child.

🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 l've always believed what we do in life echoes beyond us-and this story proves it. Back in 1992, Timika Lindsay stepped onto the grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy, not knowing her journey would come full circle. She served 30 years, rising to Navy Captain before retiring in 2021. But to me, her greatest impact wasn't just her rank—it was the example she set at home. In May 2023, her daughter Elise walked across that very same stage in Annapolis, earning her commission as an Ensign. Same place, same pride-just a new generation stepping forward. And just like that, history was made. The first African American mother and daughter to graduate from the Naval Academy in its 177-year history. That's more than a milestone-it's legacy. A reminder that someone is always watching, always learning, and sometimes... following the path you helped create. 🇺🇸🇺🇸 Photo courtesy of nj.com

If you ever get the chance to go to Normandy, take it. Don't just visit it-take your time and let it sink in, because it is one of the most humbling experiences I've ever had. Standing there, looking out across those beaches, you can almost feel the weight of what happened there. It's hard to fully understand what those soldiers went through until you're standing in that place, realizing the courage it took just to run toward that shore. The beauty of Normandy is quiet and powerful, but so is the sacrifice it represents. The rows of white crosses, the history in the ground, the silence in the air-it all reminds you that freedom came at a tremendous cost. It's the kind of place that stays with you long after you leave. It makes you grateful, reflective, and a little more aware of how much was given for the life we live today. Normandy is more than a battlefield. It is a lesson in sacrifice, bravery, and remembrance. 🙏🇺🇸🙏

🚨 Can you identify this woman? Twice in the past two weeks, the honor-system sourdough farmstand Gone Astray Goods in Loveland, Colorado, has been targeted by the same woman. She was caught on surveillance video stealing fresh breads, jams, and oatmeal crème pies. Stephanie Courville—a hardworking pregnant mother who bakes artisan sourdough loaves, cinnamon rolls, and homemade treats from scratch each week to support her family—is heartbroken. This theft strikes directly at a small family business trying to earn an honest living. Stephanie already has identifying information on the woman and is actively pursuing leads, but she needs community help. If you recognize this woman or have any relevant video footage or details about similar thefts, please email Stephanie at hello@goneastraygoods.com. If you support family-run stands, please share this post widely to help identify her and prevent further incidents. Thank you for standing with hardworking local entrepreneurs. 💔 🍞

@theficouple There are over 700 districts in NYC; all with separate teacher contracts and every teacher is on a retirement tier based on their hiring date, which also impacts the % of one's FAS is calculated.

@theficouple Not just from NY, but a larger, richer district likely on Long Island or Westchester Co. Most teachers in NY do not end their 30 year careers at that salary level, especially in rural areas of the State. Also, some areas, such as Western NY don't offer health benefits.

Spoke to a teacher from New York. Makes $140,000/yr with a 10 month schedule. Retires in 2026 with ~ $90,000/yr pension + full health benefits. Traditional careers like this can be game changers.
