Last weekend, a mother from another soccer team came up to me. She said that when our teams had played a few weeks ago, I'd made an impact on her son. During the game, I had loudly told my team, "watch out for that kid. He's really fast!" Apparently he had spent the rest of the day happily saying, "The other coach said I'm really fast!" "You don't even know it, but you make everyone's lives around you better and bring out the best in people." It's the best compliment I've received in a while. I've replayed it in my head like I'm hunkered in a trench glancing at a locket. There's no punchline here. I guess I'm just bragging. Maybe if I brag enough it'll loop around to being cool. Many things in my life are going well, and coaching my son's 5-0 U7 soccer team is part of it.

Tawbah isn’t tidy. Repentance holds that obvious structure is contrivance, that it is direction rather that governs. That too orderly an exposition falsifies the ruminations of the heart, that the truest representation of the searching heart is just to 'follow the brush.'

Some Islamic Orgs/Masajid care more about their brand & reputation than their treatment of their staff/imams. When Khidmah becomes about building an image and not about the value given to those who are actually at the forefront of the work, the community are the ones who suffer
