Three months later, this is my last @washingtonpost story — delayed because nearly everyone involved in it was laid off. I am very grateful to newsroom friends who made sure it published anyway, and to brave Roman Mongold and his family for their time. wapo.st/4cNY7Cm

@gabriel_zucman This is not how democracy works. Democracy is pooling resources and deciding together, not letting billionaires pick their favorite causes. Watch full video here: youtu.be/UWXyUbq34hQ?si…

Let’s give yourself a pat on the back once again Premier League, but what about the £millions you still owe to grassroots football c/o the 1999 task force agreement

Post-punk didn’t arrive neatly labelled. It grew out of the moment when punk’s shockwave began to settle. It’s a messy and contested term, but post-punk’s first wave left a legacy that still echoes 50 years on. What is your most essential post-punk album?

Britain’s rail fares remain the highest in Europe. The government should be more ambitious in its plans for Great British Railways, including reducing train fares. Investment in cutting rail fares is not a lucky break for people who use the railway; it is an investment in the entire economy.

On this day, 56 years ago, François Truffaut's "The Wild Child" (1970) was released in France. François Truffaut on the theme of "The Wild Child": "Basically, I always tell a story about something lacking, some frustration. 'The 400 Blows' (1959) concerned a lack of tenderness; 'Fahrenheit 451' (1966), a lack of culture. 'The Wild Child' (1970) is about the frustration of lacking knowledge, together with Itard’s stubborn determination to try and remedy this lack. He himself wrote in his memoir, “Without civilization, man would be one of the weakest and least intelligent of the animals.” This is a film about communication, exchange, language, and culture." (François Truffaut's Interview with Claude Veillot, L’Express, 1969)
