This shows the double standards of FIFA which banned Russia forthwith after the war in Ukraine for literally nothing compared with Israel's illegal wars and brutal genocide. Football is dead. inside.fifa.com/legal/judicial…

How did Hezbollah rebuild itself? If Iran has Mosaic doctrine, Hezbollah has “Mughniyeh spirit”, which has envisioned establishing dispersed, semi-autonomous units, which don’t need direct instruction. Fascinating read by @adamchams middleeasteye.net/news/exclusive…

The Nazi scum over at @GBNEWS are targeting a Palestinian genocide survivor from Gaza and her entire family. Please follow Alaa and share her story. Don't let the racist fascists harm her future.
Alaa From Gaza@alaafromgaza92

Please share widely! Apparently, @GBNEWS chose not to read this post, yet still insisted on accusing me of antisemitism. This is not just careless. It is a deliberate misrepresentation of my words and opinions. Read it carefully, @PatrickChristys. Then ask yourself whether you are reporting the truth, or constructing a narrative that suits you.

I remember this speech by Shylock, the Jew in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, every single day: “Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer as a Christian is? If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die? And if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?” I was 19 when I first read those lines. It was in Dr. Refaat Alareer’s @itranslate123 English Literature class in Gaza. He spent more time analyzing that one speech than any other part of the play. At the time, I didn’t know the difference between a Jew and a Zionist. None of us did. My classmates and I hated Shylock. He was the “Jewish” moneylender who lent 3,000 ducats to Antonio, a Christian merchant, on the condition that if Antonio failed to repay the loan on time, Shylock would be entitled to a pound of his flesh. Antonio agreed, certain he could repay it. But when his ships were lost at sea, Shylock demanded what the contract promised. Around the same time, Shylock’s daughter Jessica ran away with a Christian and stole his money. Then he learned that Antonio’s fortunes had collapsed. And while he was still grieving, still reeling, two Christian men mocked him. That’s when he said those words. That’s when he stood up and defended his humanity. Dr. Refaat made us listen. He made us feel every word. And somehow, by the end of that class, we all sympathized with Shylock. We stopped seeing him as the villain and started seeing him as a man crushed by the world around him. That moment stayed with me. Dr. Refaat inspired me to write my research paper on how my Palestinian classmates responded to Shylock. Most of them said the same thing. They understood him. They sympathized with him. The world needs to know more about Dr. Refaat. May he rest in peace.

The Suez Canal crisis is one of the most important geopolitical events in history! If you want to understand the true stakes of the current war in Iran, you have to look back exactly 70 years to a remarkably similar event: the 1956 Suez Canal Crisis. In 1956, the world order was turned upside down not by a world war, but by a fight over a narrow, 120-mile strip of water. Today, we are watching a nearly identical script play out over the Strait of Hormuz. Here is how the parallels between 1956 and today reveal the true endgame of the current crisis. The Chokepoint is the Prize → 1956: The Suez Canal was the central nervous system of the global economy, carrying the oil that powered Europe and the British Empire. When Egypt suddenly took control of the canal, Britain and France panicked and invaded to take it back. → Today: The Strait of Hormuz is the modern equivalent. It is the ultimate bottleneck for global energy. The current conflict isn't just about regional disagreements; it is a battle over who gets to hold the keys to the world's oil supply. The Lonely Superpower → 1956: Britain and France assumed they could handle the crisis on their own, but they desperately needed the backing of the rising superpower: the United States. President Eisenhower, however, refused to join the fight. He left America's closest allies to shoulder the burden alone, which ultimately doomed their mission. → Today: The roles have reversed. The United States is now the established power, but key European and NATO partners are refusing to join the fight. This leaves the U.S. to carry the immense military and financial weight of the conflict by itself. Winning the Battle, Losing the War → 1956: Britain and France had superior militaries and easily won the physical battles on the ground in Egypt. However, the economic cost was devastating. The U.S. threatened to sink the British currency, and the sheer financial pressure forced Britain to retreat. Egypt lost the battles but won the war simply by holding its ground. → Today: Many expect a swift and decisive U.S. military victory. But even if the U.S. wins on the battlefield, the Western world is currently carrying massive amounts of debt and cannot survive a prolonged period of high oil prices. Iran is accustomed to decades of economic hardship; the West is not. Just like in 1956, military superiority does not guarantee you can afford the economic fallout. The Shift in Global Power → 1956: The Suez Crisis was the exact moment the sun finally set on the British Empire. It proved that Britain was no longer the undisputed global leader. The crisis officially handed the baton of global dominance to the United States. → Today: If Iran manages to hold the Strait of Hormuz—even partially—it will signal to the world that the U.S. can no longer protect global trade routes. The post-1945 world order, built on the U.S. dollar and American security, could fracture. This would pave the way for a new, multi-polar world led by a rising China

🇲🇽 Mexico’s Sheinbaum says fuel shipments to Cuba under review President Claudia Sheinbaum said oil shipments to Cuba remain paused, but her government is “exploring different possibilities” to resume them while avoiding “any negative impact” on Mexico’s economy. She stressed it is important to get supplies to the island. 👉No details were provided on timing or scale of a potential resumption. ➤ After a U.S. blockade disrupted Venezuelan exports in late 2025, Mexico became Cuba’s top crude supplier, providing about 44% of imports (~12,000 b/d). ➤ Mexico’s last confirmed shipment was January 9, with deliveries effectively halted later that month under U.S. pressure. ➤ Since taking office in October 2024, Sheinbaum’s administration has reportedly tripled shipments compared to her predecessor. 🎥Below, her at the daily press conference today:

Zafaraniyeh is an upscale district of northern Tehran. It's highly urbanized and largely residential. This account of events last night suggests Israel killed 50 people, including this innocent lady, to get to one guy.

Strait of Hormuz traffic near standstill Transit activity through the Strait of Hormuz remains severely constrained, with only four vessel movements recorded over the past two days — 3 crude oil tankers and one LPG carrier — according to #MarineTraffic data. All vessels are sanctioned and were sailing in ballast, with movements recorded only in the east-to-west direction, underscoring the ongoing disruption to normal maritime flows through this critical chokepoint. Watch the latest playback of vessel activity in the Strait of Hormuz over the past two days.

NEW: US allies do not see a realistic way of reopening the Strait of Hormuz without ending the war. G7 countries have been discussing how they could help Trump. There are conversations about a framework for Hormuz security. The UK has sent military planners to the US for talks. But the reality is these conversations are at a very early stage and US allies are not looking at sending naval assets until the conflict eases. US allies are yet to be convinced there is any credible military plan to reopen the strait. The UK has been in talks with Lloyds of London about insurance products and prices when the situation calms. But even then insurance is not seen as the big issue - it is safety. It marks a widening disconnect between the US and Europe over the war amid concerns Trump ultimately doesn’t have a plan. Meanwhile energy prices are soaring, bonds tumbling and interest rates are set to rise. With @EllenAMilligan @golnarM >> bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
