The average high school head football coach stipend is around $7,000. Fluctuating heavily For that, they’re expected to coach year-round, run a program, mentor kids, manage parents, recruit their own halls, fundraise, break down film, coordinate staffs, and be available almost 24/7. Football coaches are grossly underpaid for what we ask of them.

Hard truth: Schools cannot fully overcome poor parenting. Teachers are burning out trying to do the jobs of educator, counselor, disciplinarian, and parent all at once. At some point, accountability has to return to the home.

@FixingEducation I always thought elementary should get paid more. Tough job, a lot of after hours obligations, and your are responsible for the foundations of learning.

Teachers: Should high-demand positions like math, science, and special education receive higher pay because they’re harder to fill? Or should all teachers stay on the same pay scale regardless of subject?

@FixingEducation Hey, if that dentist just took the time to build a relationship with the kid, the kid would brush AND floss (and probably swear off sweets), even if Mom and Dad never followed up or mandated they did so.

When kids choose NOT to brush their teeth, should we blame the dentist? Obviously not. Why do we blame teachers when students choose NOT to complete even the most simplest of assignments?

@CouzWalker I’m a little biased. The guy mentored me when I was in junior high while playing at WVU. Gave me an autographed peach bowl ball ( whole team) for Christmas. Found out later it was a gift to him from rest of team as he was a captain. Gave back to him several years later.

Another attempt to interview a WVU legend that did not go as planned. That’s two in a row and for two different reasons. Maybe I’ll just keep doing shows solo. 🤷‍♂️

Reminder: Before being mad at the departing player, please realize there are several reasons why players end up in the transfer portal. Sure, some leave for more money, just like you would change jobs for more money. But players are also often “cut” and told to leave.

Ok, Rodney leaving has me gutted and worried. I figured even if everyone else left, he’d be the one guy still here. One of my favorite Mountaineers, I really wish nothing but the best for him.
