@PDXStephenG @puppetize It's more effective to introspect when the process is benchmarked to actions, goals, and results. Starting with a proactive, employment-drive outreach to the black community would go a long way to making this dialog more reflective of solving an actual problem, imho. (4/4)

So it's not the all white #tech panels, virtue signaling, toxic work environments, limited relationships, lack of diversity in leadership, disinvestment in PoC partners or even the pipeline but the cops? A week ago @skipnewberry could be "silent no more".. bizjournals.com/portland/news/…

@PDXStephenG @puppetize In engineering roles in particular, most positions are placed by recruiters, rather than through direct applications. So, when I wrote my earlier suggestion it was based on the ability to proactively recruit POC based on existing methods and protocols. (3)

@PDXStephenG @puppetize Introspection without action seems to me like a waste of time. I think it would be better to start reaching out right now to current and potential black employees, and really doing the -work- necessary to hire them. (2)

@PDXStephenG @puppetize Thx 😊 Doing the hard work of identifying and changing a culture to be more inclusive seems like a recipe for cringe when it's going to be a largely white workforce doing so. Like imagine a bunch of white brogrammer hipsters sitting around a table being like "so much this." (1)

@ohaiSF @puppetize I would shift it a little to.. "We are going to dig into the deep work of identifying & addressing a culture at @puppetize where qualified Black candidates don't apply, aren't hired or retained THEN we are going to start adding talented Black professionals to our team."

Black techies are some of the coolest people I know. We need more of them, and we need more of them in positions of power.

@PDXStephenG @puppetize Yeah like, instead of that long-winded post about introspective self-awareness value transformation, maybe just be like, "we're going to hire more black people."

This is an epic level of "caucacity" by TAO & @puppetize. Orgs with NO Black board members, executive leaders or employees (sorry Puppet I forgot that .4%). You all don't even do the small stuff how could you ever tackle police reform. I am embarrassed for our state right now.

@StartupChamps @turoczy Yeah. White helvetica bold statements on a black background with a #BLM thrown in means little. Institutions need to make real, financial commitments and allow themselves to be held accountable.

@ajscholz What are some examples of new, anti-racist capital instruments? I agree with you in theory, but it would be helpful to have some examples.

@oscarthinks already dissected this deal very eloquently yesterday, x.com/oscarthinks/st…, so let me just summarize: these #philanthropy leaders are issuing new debt from the mainstream financial system that has white supremacy baked into it to make more grants ...

Ford plans to issue $1 billion in debt in the form of 30- and 50-year notes, allowing it to increase its payout rate from about 6 percent to 10 percent over the next two years. bit.ly/2YtcC79

@NickTheNewbie Not sure if this is an adult thing as much as a "from the midatlantic and/or New England" thing. (Possibly also the South?) MY POYNT IS that it's not really a thing on the west coast.

@JoshConstine I should point out that this tweet calls into relief the conservative critique of a leftist media bias. Unless you'd like to clarify: are you speaking as an individual, or as an impartial journalist?
