Sorry, Alia, but no one is going to protect Lebanon before Lebanon starts protecting itself. The governments own decisions need to be implemented. If the army continues to be meek in tackling Hizbollah, there is no point in having a Lebanon at all. Hizbollah and Lebanon are incompatible concepts.

As much as the crazy mollahs in Iran hate the Gulf states, as much as the messianic Mollahs and war criminals in Israel hate #Beirut, and everything it represents: the antidote of their hateful apartheid regime. I grew up in Lebanon hearing, in graphic detail, what his group did to Palestinian and Lebanese women. Two of my own aunties were seconds away from being raped and slaughtered by them. They survived by sheer miracle l, but the terror they carried never left our family. This isn’t abstract history for me. It’s in my book, with the full weight it deserves.

Aljazeera is really the worst mid eastern news outlet. She talks about Israel violating the ceasefire. No mention of the fact that Hizbollah violated the main condition of that agreement, and the Lebanese government failed at disarming them. This is nonsense.

I met a Greek shipper some 20 years ago who said that her know when the Iranians will do something crazy: they ask for tankers to load up on oil and head to Mediterranean with exact destination undefined. Then they do something crazy, oil prices jump, and th we destinations are then defined. His view was that this is how they enriched their cronies. This guy is probably talking his own book now.
