Da reibt man sich als Abgeordneter ungläubig die Augen: Eigentlich war die Chat-Kontrolle vom Tisch. Doch kurz vor der Sommerpause – während alle die Badeutensilien packen und auf die Fußball-WM schielen – schiebt die Parlamentspräsidentin das Thema klammheimlich wieder auf die Agenda. Natürlich unter anderem Namen. Heute wird also abgestimmt, ob das Ganze am Donnerstag zur Abstimmung kommt. Realsatire pur. Und tatsächlich: Das Dringlichkeitsverfahren wird angenommen – am Donnerstag wird nun in der Sache selbst entschieden, das Manöver ist aufgegangen. Unglaublich!

@JardineCash @jstamby @pete_rizzo_ It's a trade-off; there will always be some form of trust in scaling solutions, that's the nature of blockchains. If you believe otherwise you are fooling yourself. Self-custody is for savings, most people don't care about this for their daily spending. They choose convenience.

@sunny051488 @JoeCarlasare Fiat trader mindset. So I assume you have zero bitcoin except for that one leveraged long trade you have open? I'd rather have as much bitcoin as possible and only convert portions to fiat when neccesary.

It’s hilarious how many so called bitcoiners spend all day preaching Bitcoin as the “exit from fiat,” then turn around and advocate trading it like just another risk asset every 4 years. That’s not conviction. It’s cynicism. If the 4 year cycle persists, there’s no reason to hold bitcoin. It’s simply a tradable asset and economically insignificant. But if Bitcoin truly is superior money, it should move independently of “cycles.” If it does, it can change the world. The goal isn’t to trade it. The goal is to stop thinking in broken money.

This is because the anti-capitalist left is not actually against people being crazy rich. They're against certain types of people being crazy rich. Artists and athletes make sense to them because they've played music and sports and because their success can be explained by "luck" and "talent". Messi's wealth is not offensive to them because they understand Messi is much better at football than they are. But when it comes to business, the anti-capitalist leftist has no framework for understanding why Jeff Bezos might be super rich since 99% of them have never ever created a product, business or service that was of value to other people. They've never taken entrepreneurial risk. They've never employed people and felt the burden of responsibility that comes with that. They've never pick up a business and given it a play in the way they've picked up a ball or a guitar. They *literally* don't understand wealth creation. They think there is a fixed amount of money and the only thing a business does is split it unfairly. It's why they rage at Elon and other successful business leaders. Because they genuinely don't understand why they're wealthy. Also, and this is just as important, athletes and artists are disproportionately young, attractive, "diverse", left wing etc. Business leaders are "evil" middle aged white men whose success offends the average anti-capitalist leftist because they don't understand a) what it is they do and b) that Elon Musk has the same talent advantage on them as Messi does, it's just harder to measure.

Bitcoin is a REVOLUTION. It is much more than number go up. It is an invention which can free humankind from the long sad history of monetary debasement, which empowers few and taxes everyone else. In a fiat system the wrong people win. We all pay for it. It is unjust and unfair. Throughout all of human history we never had a monetary standard that did not dilute over time. Now we do. Those of us who are partisans and are fighting for it understand the stakes. Freedom, fairness, prosperity, less war, etc. Unsound money is the issue of our age. Currently few see it, but this will change. This Fourth Turning is well on its way and the monetary issue will be resolved. As I observe the current Bitcoin landscape and the attacks on its leaders i am reminded of the opening of Thomas Paine's second writing, The American Crisis. Written in December 1776 after Washington had gotten his ass kicked on Long Island and retreated from Brooklyn and through New Jersey, Paine wrote: "These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in the crisis, shrink from the service of their country: but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have the consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem to lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value." Sound money has to win. Sound money will win. History will be kind to sound money partisans. This is about a lot more than number go up. Don't forget why we are in this fight. Spread the word. The system they run is evil. We know the antidote. Time is on our side.
