36-year old Emmanuel Aniefiok Iren. He is obviously Ibibio from Akwa Ibom. It can be very irritating when you dabble into topics you know nothing about. But when you are a Pastor in Nigeria, especially in the Pentecostal varieties you are all-knowing and your listeners called congregation are not permitted to query whatever you say. This way you can say just about any stupid and illogical things and you will get away with it. Now he has arrogantly dished out a thinly-vieled insult on an entire race, subtle Bigotry on is, in the name of preaching. He is here saying more or less than the Ibo people have better sense of decency and money management than the Yoruba people. What nonsense!!! We won't allow you get away with this idiocy. 1. Why do you have to compare people of DIFFERENT CULTURES, does it make sense??? We live in different societies and are shaped by our environments which make us who we are and different from other people. Our ancestors knew this. They told us in one of their many wise sayings that " What we do here on our land may be abomination in the lands of other people". It is to admonish us not to unduly criticise other people for their peculiar ways. That's maturity. It is a matter of CULTURE. 2. I mean, even amongst Yoruba people the Ijesas do things differently from the Oyo people and you can easily differentiate an Ibadan man and the man from Ekiti simply from their ways. You don't hold or criticise anyone for living his culture for as long as he and his people are happy with it. 3. But for "One Nigeria" we won't be having this discussion. If Nigeria was founded on the premises of respect for DIVERSITY then it won't be my problem to criticise what happens with the ways Ibibios choose to live amongst themselves. When I visit Uyo or Eket I will simply learn to adapt and live with them as they do. And this is what Yoruba people do all over the world and the reason that we are never mentioned in any story of disrespect for any people on their lands. 4. Quite apparently this young man is caught in the Obingo bandwagon fuelled by Ibo propaganda and a slavish attitude to materialism. For Godsake we didn't invite you to our lands and we haven't complained to you about our culture. You came to us and you are the one who MUST ADAPT AND RESPECT US when you are with us. 5. Now, to the main story. You must know that in the Yoruba culture we used to have a FOUR-DAY WEEK of work, the fifth day is ỌRÚN - the day of Sabbath - when men and their families were expected to sit at home, wear their best outfits , worship Olódùmarè through IFÁ or any of the Òrìsàs and then feast and merry all day long. These are people who have worked the whole of four days on their farms and other endeavours. Markets don't open on the day of ỌRÚN. In the Yoruba culture our ancestors have known to understand the ephemeral properties of life and had thus lived life in its simplest forms. Long before the Europeans came we have been like that and it never stopped us from being one of the most civilized people in the world who have contributed a great deal to modern civillization. We have always been a simple people who have never been ruled by money or material acquisition s. A man's worth in the Yoruba culture is measured by the aggregate of the content of his responsible character, wisdom and intelligence and not by his earthly riches and that is why you can see a Multi-millionaire go flat on his belly to great an older man sitting under a mango tree in the village. We celebrate every every event because we believe that all days and events are but Grace from Olódùmarè to savour when we are around so we celebrate Births, Marriage, Deaths, Chieftaincy etc with feast and merriment. We celebrate with feast, drumming, dancing and all merriments and these come quite often. It hasn't stopped us from being one of the most educated and advanced society in Nigeria and Africa..../

@olayemi22 @sowore When you teach you are engaging in educating so education is universal. Not confined to any geographical location. Now Jesus did not send the church to be in the business of academics. Their remit is kingdom business. The church is powerless today for misinterpreting it's role.

I watched Pastor Olumide Emmanuel’s attempt to respond to my criticism of prosperity preachers on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch, and instead of addressing the issue, he exposed it. On that show, I spoke plainly about a system where prosperity preachers take from the poor while denying them any meaningful benefit from the wealth created by their sacrifices. His response was not just defensive; it was revealing, even though he tried to be demeaning. Rather than engage the substance of the argument, he resorted to anger, curses, and theatrics. But in doing so, he confirmed exactly what I said. He openly admitted that churches raise “capital” from poor members to build elite institutions such as schools, only to later separate those institutions from the church so they can “survive.” In plain language, that means the people who paid for these schools are deliberately excluded from them. That is exploitation. In any serious economic system, this is at least "sweat equity." When people contribute their money, time, and belief, they have a stake in what is built. You cannot take from the poor in the name of faith, convert their sacrifices into profitable assets, and then deny them access to those very assets. It is deeply troubling that struggling church members are encouraged to give beyond their means, while those same funds are used to acquire properties, build businesses, purchase private jets and helicopters, and create elite structures they will never benefit from. The cycle is that which extracts from the poor, builds for the privileged, and justifies it with doctrine. The question remains, why take their equity if they are not allowed to share in what they have built? Pastor Olumide also pointed to church-owned estates with constant electricity and running water as evidence of success, but failed to mention that these developments are products of the same extraction model. The real question is how many ordinary church members can afford to live in these estates. In places like Redemption Camp, it is common knowledge that many residents are wealthy individuals, including politicians who don't even attend the church on Sunday, while the average church member cannot even dream of owning property there. Where are the provisions for low-income housing for members? Where is the housing for the poor who attend massive programs like the Holy Ghost Congress and are forced to sleep outdoors during the holy ghost congress? There is practically none. Faith-based denominations should not be a vehicle for extraction or extortion. They should uplift, empower, and create shared prosperity. What we are seeing instead is inequality being institutionalized and defended under the guise of divine blessing. Conclusively, he was shouting angrily that if this nation were run like Redemption Camp, there would be free education and constant electricity, and that if it were run like Canaan Land, everything would work. But that argument collapses under its own weight. The very people who should be running this nation properly are already inside your churches. They are your elders, your biggest donors, your celebrated tithe payers. They are the political and economic elite whose actions have contributed to this country's dysfunction. Yet, unlike Jesus, you have not driven them out of the house of the Lord. Instead, they are welcomed, honored, and elevated. So you cannot point to church estates as models for national governance while ignoring the fact that the same class of people who undermine the nation are the pillars of your institutions. Lol Imagine the church built a factory here or a massive farm and employed hundreds of its own members.. But no, the way the brain of the religious Afrikan is wired is to put so much resources into building a place of worship to pray for miracles and economic breakthrough. If religions are not regulated in Afrika, it will be the end of Afrikans.

@sowore Oga is it logical that the church should be setting up schools. Where in the bible was it told them to build schools. Jesus' instructions is clear build the kingdom of God. Just that one thing he asks of the church nothing more.
