@DaikanyamaGuy Conversely, the family and community into which you are born, and by extension the nation, actually does have an obligation to have a pathway and place for you. The extent to which our nations are not advocating for our own young is deeply inhuman, possibly satanic.

People forget that the natural state of mankind is a crushing sort of poverty. Everything that civilization has produced was an active effort for millennia, and the places that are less civilized didn't have anything happen to them, they simply haven't made those same efforts.
J.T. Alexander@JTAlexander

The Incredibles is a great allegory for Whites, but Dash in particular is an uncanny allegory for Gen Z White Males. He is born with abilities beyond his peers, but he's forbidden from using them because his parents agreed to made up bureaucratic rules before he was born. Even when they finally relent at the end of the movie and permit him to compete as a runner, he's encouraged to hold himself back so that he's not beating the competition too badly. Perhaps he's even encouraged to throw races so that others can win. The only thing in life he's allowed to celebrate are the bare minimum non-accomplishments afforded to all who merely survive long enough, like a fourth grade graduation. None of this is because Dash is a bad kid. He didn't steal his powers. No, he didn't really 'earn' them, either. But, he has them. He can use them. But made up rules by generations before him, looking to solve problems that weren't really problems, forbid him from doing so. I doubt that Brad Bird intended this allegory, as I'd find it unlikely he could see quite where America was headed only a few short years after this movie came out. But it stands now as one of the best rightwing movies out there, because Whites are the Supers. We were made to hold ourselves back and only reflect on the 'glory days.' We aren't allowed to make those glory days anymore. Why not? Oh, because some man with a fancy piece of paper said so. Yeah, we're basically unstoppable if we wanted to force the issue, but we're good law abiding people; even if the law is overtly hostile to our genetic group in particular. And Dash is the next generation, coming up into this with the natural position to grow up in this system and realize that it is utterly insane. "So what if its not fair to them that I can do these things? Its unfair that I'm not allowed to do what I can do."

In ancient Mesopotamia, to be a judge (below the level of the king) meant that you were a respectable member of the community. Not that they only picked respectable men, but that to be such a man simply implied that you would be on the panel when a court case arose.
A@IQshredded

It’s just completely unserious that these bitchy norwooding judges have kid gloves for career criminals with 53 violent priors when they push an elderly woman onto the subway tracks and then routinely throw the book at normal teenage boys for having a fake id or something

@20committee rely just as much on their economic base. And market / merchant activity is a strong way to concentrate a large economic base from a small area and population.

@20committee The navy only existed because there was enough economic base to fund its construction. And it only had a reason to be built at all in order to protect Venetian merchant interests overseas. Capitalists undersell the necessity of national violence, but most violent regimes...

There's a missing word below: Navy. The Venetian Navy (Armada) for centuries dominated the Mediterranean. It allowed la Serenissima, which lacked geo-strategic depth, to rise to greatness and stay there for a long time. That Navy was possible due to excellent shipyards plus a lot of STATE infrastructure. How odd that the anarcho-capitalist fanfic below leaves out the key part.
Handre@Handre

Venice built the greatest commercial empire in European history without a central bank, without industrial policy, and without a single economic development agency. While Byzantine bureaucrats strangled Constantinople with regulations and Frankish kings debased their currencies, Venetian merchants created wealth through voluntary exchange and sound money. The lagoon dwellers who fled Attila's hordes in 452 AD had nothing but salt marshes and fish. No natural resources. No agricultural surplus. No inherited infrastructure. What they possessed was something far more valuable: distance from the coercive apparatus of mainland states. This geographic accident forced them to survive through trade rather than taxation, commerce rather than conquest. Venice's constitution deliberately fragmented power to prevent any single authority from controlling trade. The Doge held ceremonial functions while competing merchant families checked each other's ambitions. No guild could monopolize an industry without rivals organizing alternative trading networks. When the state tried to restrict private commerce in 1297 with the Serrata del Maggior Consiglio, it marked the beginning of Venice's decline, not its peak. The Venetian ducat maintained its gold content for over 500 years while every other European currency suffered debasement. Merchants could calculate profits across decades, plan investments across generations, and accumulate capital without worrying about monetary manipulation. Compare this to England, where Henry VIII cut silver content by 83% in just 20 years. Voluntary association and sound money create abundance. Coercion creates poverty. Venice proved this. The same economic laws that enriched Venetian merchants still operate today, waiting for governments brave enough to get out of the way.

@C_3C_3 A state is the entity which holds a monopoly on violence in a region. If mobs of teens are the only ones exercising violence, they are the state. The local people are the subjects of that state. Very few tyrants are overthrown by asking politely.

What’s the solution to the “Teen Takeovers” destroying cities? Arrest the parents, right? But what if they do not have parents? Arrest the kids, right? But what if the Leftist judge just releases them? Seriously. What is the solution? I got nothing.

A nation is fundamentally an organ of violence. The state is the modern system of organizing that violence. All this "voting" and "asking for permission" is historically alien to the nature of the thing itself. No wonder tyranny has been so common this century

@JimMcMurtry01 Fundamentally, this is how every Old World nation established the title of their countries until very recently. Not everyone displays the heads, but historically borders are drawn in blood or the plausible threat of blood, outside the occasional purchase and marriage.

It's kind of typical of Boomers to realize they have a market problem (high property taxes), and rather than try to solve the market problem, their immediate reaction is to instead give themselves a special legal carveout while making the problem worse for everyone else.

@LargeInStature_ @PurestZinc Most protestants teach that it requires an affirmation of doctrine to be properly saved, and then for that doctrine to express through faith. A true idiot can't do that, so they are at best among the ambiguous ignorant who they hope but can't guarantee will be judged leniently.

@esrtweet or, consider zero tax for half the nation, and also a revoked franchise for those who were not net taxpayers in the tax returns filed in the year prior to the election in question.

Jeff, this is another terrible idea that won't die, like UBI. The problem with it is that it creates the wrong political incentives. The higher the "no-taxes" floor goes (and we already have a pretty high one due to the net effect of government transfer payments) the larger the constituency constantly clamoring for more gibs is, and the more difficult it gets to build a political bloc against taxes going even higher on an ever narrower segment of the population. It's a very slippery slope, and the logical outcome is visible in places like California where states are absurdly dependent on tax revenue from a handful of very high earners. Who then respond to incentives and bail out. Goodbye revenue base, hello debt death spiral. This is why a flat tax - no income brackets at all - is the best policy and in the long term they only stable one.
Jeff Bezos@JeffBezos

Zero out taxes for the bottom half of earners. A nurse in Queens shouldn’t be sending money to Washington. Washington should be sending her an apology.

This is nothing more than a White people tax. It's not racist. It's a fact. White people and Asians will pay the majority of the taxes. White people paying the lions share. I'll simply stop making money entirely. I'll have zero income and be totally fine with it. I'll never earn another dollar and it'll be worth it. I'm not playing this game. It's easy for guys like Benzo to say stuff like this because he, for all intents and purposes, has endless money. It's not fine for people like me.
