I’ve just listened to William Ruto address Nairobi MCAs, and honestly, something feels off.
It’s like he didn’t expect this level of anger from the Gikomba demolitions.
You can hear it in how he’s talking.
At some point, he’s even trying to say part of the State House would be demolished for being on riparian land, and you just pause like... wait, what?
That’s not confidence.
That’s someone trying to recover ground he didn’t expect to lose.
This is damage control, plain and simple.
I think he genuinely thought Gikomba would just pass like any other “project”.
It didn’t.
Now it’s explanations, justifications, promises of a “better market”.
Because the backlash caught him off guard.
And let’s be real for a second,
He knows he’s already lost the people who were affected and many more.
And there’s still something that doesn’t add up:
If the issue was riparian land,
Why is the same government now planning to build in that same place?
So what was the real reason?
Because clearly, it wasn’t just the land.
Anyway, you can just tell.
This is someone realizing, a bit too late, that things didn’t go the way he expected.
Too late.
