@JoeBoo3 @m_bultman I think that was part of it. And then fans got impatient. He wanted to build through the draft and build for long term not a flash in the pan.

@SeiderSalad I think if the goalie prospects hit and any or all of Carter Bear, Genborg, MBN, Plante work out then the future isn't as hopeless as people make it out to be.

The casuals are out in force today, let me tell you. Yzerman did the best with what he had and built a solid foundation for this team that will breed longterm success, but go ahead and fill my mentions with your stupidity. Insults from apes are of no concern. #LGRW

@bobwojnowski Don’t blame Larking for his request and Stevie has had a decade but the timing of this is bad. Would have been nice to have a GM in place for the draft unless the replacement has already been chosen.

Yzerman is a great hockey mind and leader. That doesn't change because it didn't work here. My guess is, with the Larkin impasse, he knew it would take longer to turn around. He didn't want that and I assume Chris Ilitch didn't either. Can we call it a semi-mutual parting?

@DanP07248394 @The_Mexinadian you’re right, the guy who hosts the most popular sports talk show in Detroit doesn’t know or care about detroit sports sorry, but just cause he holds our teams to a standard and doesn’t bow down when they lose doesn’t mean he’s wrong

@woodwardsports @AnsarKhanMLive @JasonGregor Maybe the whole thing is in itself a better outcome for the whole organization. Larkin stays gets a second wind, team rallies behind the decisions and let’s get going. It isn’t high school it is your job to play to your peak performance hence the millions you make. EARN IT

There's a belief that the rift between Dylan Larkin and Steve Yzerman began after Henrik Zetterberg retired, and Larkin wasn't named Red Wings captain for over 2 years 👀🫣 (via @AnsarKhanMLive, @JasonGregor Show)

@AllThingsDET I don't mean actually crying. I am okay with anyone crying. I just think his overall attitude and body language didn't scream "leader". I think Seider would be a much better leader.

@onewayrex Crying is natural and doesn't make someone less of a human for doing it. I just have a problem with Larkin abandoning his team the way that he did it.

Out of all of this, gotta feel for Moritz Seider & Lucas Raymond. Can't imagine their thoughts/feelings losing both their captain and general manager in the same offseason. What a shit show.

@AllThingsDET He looked like he was about to cry. Mumbled and looked like he needed a blanket. No true captain asks out. Look at Steve himself. Never asked out, even during the rough times.

@onewayrex Idc that he cried, doesn’t matter who a person is he was in a hard situation. I’m not even mad he asked for a trade. To only give 3-4 💩 destinations is just plain selfish. It’s not about winning a Cup. It’s about playing with his buddies. Sad Raymond isn’t one of them.

Yzerman ultimately built a foundation and a house on the scorched earth Ken Holland left, but then wasn’t able to furnish it. I don’t even know if you could say he was able to hook up the plumbing and electric. He deserves credit for Seider, Raymond, Ed, and Aljo, but that’s it.

I immediately wonder if this is the beginning of the repairing of the Larkin relationship. Might not be what a lot of people wanna hear but that’s where my head went.

Flyers have had 5 different HCs in the last 4 years and 4 months and they were able to find a way to not be out of the playoffs for a decade. Odd, no?

@bigheadhcky The playoffs would be nice, I think you fix the 5 on 5 scoring and add a goaltender like Cossa to the mix and things will turn around. The Wings do have the most Stanley Cups since '93.

you’re so quick to jump on the fire yzerman train but you’re not looking at the whole fucking picture. look at the griffins for fucks sake. it’s full of yzerman draft picks and signings. THE FUTURE IS SO FUCKING BRIGHT AND YOU ALL ACT LIKE THE AHL DOESNT EXIST.

I have zero faith in “you gotta get a stop gap” Yzerman has TRIED and he sucks at it and all the stop gaps that don’t suck end up leaving or being traded Holl Hamonic Hagg Oesterle JBD Trash Ghost Maatta Walman Fine players
Red Wings Prospects@LGRWProspects

Despite only play 6:30TOI 5v5 Aljo and JBD are a -2 and xGA .982 They were a reason for the two GA in the first 3min of the second period. No combination of the 3rd pairing has worked this year. Ya gotta get a top 4d man to push people down or get a stop gap bottom pair guy.

@LGRWProspects tbf. Johansson and JBD were fantastic for most of the season. JBD being scratched for Hamonic the last few weeks probably hasn't helped that 3rd pair cohesion.
