This morning I watched a YouTube video and Bishop Oyedepo said something that stopped me mid-scroll. He talked about a land his church needed. I have seen a video on TikTok — a lady saying she is starting a sex toys business for Christian women who feel they are not satisfied by their husbands, and that this idea was inspired by the Holy Spirit. As believers, we must be very careful not to attach the name of the Holy Spirit to things He did not author. God is not confused about His design for intimacy. From the beginning in Book of Genesis, the Bible says: “A man shall leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24) Sex was created by God. It is holy within marriage. It is spiritual. It is covenantal. It is meant to express unity — not replace it. When dissatisfaction enters a marriage, the solution is not to introduce artificial substitutes. The solution is communication, prayer, counseling, healing, patience, and growth together. The Holy Spirit does not inspire substitutes for covenant. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20: “Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit…? Therefore glorify God in your body.” If our bodies are temples, then what we introduce into them must reflect holiness. We cannot claim something is Spirit-led if it feeds self-centered gratification rather than strengthening unity. Some may argue, “But it helps women.” Let us ask deeper questions: • Does it encourage deeper emotional connection with the husband? • Does it promote self-control? • Does it build spiritual intimacy? Or does it shift focus from mutual giving to personal satisfaction? The fruit of the Spirit listed in Book of Galatians 5:22–23 includes self-control. The Holy Spirit produces discipline, purity, and holiness — not dependence on objects. We must also be honest: the sex toy industry did not emerge from prayer meetings. It grew out of a culture that commercialized sex, detached it from covenant, and normalized lust. Can something born from that system suddenly become “Holy Spirit inspired”? The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 4:3: “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality.” And in Book of James 1:17: “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” When God inspires something, it will align with His Word. It will not contradict His pattern. It will not feed the flesh while claiming to serve the Spirit. If a woman feels unsatisfied in her marriage, the answer is not a product. The answer may be: • Honest conversation • Counseling • Medical consultation if necessary • Spiritual growth • Emotional healing • Rebuilding intimacy Marriage is not perfected by gadgets. It is strengthened by love, sacrifice, patience, and unity. As Christians, we must stop using spiritual language to validate cultural trends. Not every business idea is a calling. Not every opportunity is an assignment from heaven. Let us be discerning. The Holy Spirit leads us into truth, holiness, and deeper covenant — not into industries that revolve around stimulating the flesh. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8 We can discuss difficult topics without shame. But we must never compromise Scripture to fit modern narratives. Holiness is still relevant.
