@206Teezy @BradyHenderson That’s what I was thinking originally, but in the same statement they also say the family would have to divest it’s 49ers holdings. The only way in theory to keep both would be to have only one family member own the 49ers chunk but not own any part of the Seahawks

Memo just sent to all NFL teams regarding the agreement to sell the Seattle Seahawks for a record $9.612 billion: “Following a thorough sales process run by Allen & Co., the Estate of Paul Allen has reached agreement to sell the Seattle Seahawks to the Khosla family and several limited partners, subject to membership review and approval. Allen & Co. reported very robust interest in the Club throughout the process, with the Khosla group emerging as the Club’s preferred buyer among multiple qualified bidders. The Khosla family currently owns a limited partner interest in the San Francisco 49ers and would be required to divest that interest. The Khosla family includes Neeru Khosla, who would serve as the controlling owner, Vinod Khosla, and their son Neal Khosla. Neeru Khosal is an educator and entrepreneur. Vinod Khosla is a tech investor who co-founded Sun Microsystems and currently runs Khosla Ventures, which he founded. Neal Khosla is the CEO of Curai, an AI healthcare company. Neal would be expected to have a significant leadership role in the ownership group. Allen & Co. has kept us informed throughout the process, and the Commissioner and League staff have had discussions with the Khosla family and its representatives. We have also commenced both review of key transaction documents and customary due diligence on the prospective ownership group. As this work progresses, we will report to the Finance Committee, which will review the transaction in advance of the membership’s consideration.”

@toro__training I agree with this! I think if the US solely focused on soccer the way the rest of the world did we would become very competitive in a generation or two, at the earliest. But it takes time to build the systems and competitions needed

The average NFL play lasts about 4 seconds. The average baseball play lasts around 6 seconds. Basketball and hockey are much closer to soccer in terms of continuous action, but they’re played in much smaller spaces, making them more explosive. Point is, in American sports, athletic traits like speed, power, and strength have a bigger influence on performance. Soccer is different. It is played over a much larger field, requires continuous decision-making and endurance, and is played with the feet. Even if you took the country’s best athletes and gave them six months, they would not be close to the world’s best soccer players. And it would take much more than just “caring.”

@KylePagan_ A generation or two. The best analogy I’ve seen to explain it is wherever you see a basketball hoop in the US, other countries would have soccer nets. Their development starts when they are young. Also it is much harder to go from basketball or football to soccer than the reverse

@paleonormie Plus, now when the kids are older and start going to school full time and become more independent you’ve kept up with your career and, in theory, have gained promotions, potentially more time off, etc. It all depends on your short vs long term goals

This really is an excellent book. I don't really see why it's ALWAYS the woman who should stay home - but the plain fact is that paying $60,000 annually to commute, cover multiple-child child-care, eat while out, etc makes no sense if you make $70,000.

@WillBracher I agree with you on this. The transfer portal is a complex issue and right now I don’t like how much of a free for all it is. That being said, when a coach leaves, those players shouldn’t be forced to stay, so this is one of the few occasions where I am okay with the portal

Someone told me they pay their mortgage with a credit card (with no additional fee) and get all the points. This has to be wrong, right? Does any institution allow CC payment for mortgage and not add like a 2% fee, if they allow it at all?

The PWHL gold plan works because all teams play against each other and playoffs are determined between the whole set. It wouldn’t work for NHL, NBA or NFL, because a team’s playoff eligibility isn’t tied to every team in the league.
