In 1992, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was serving as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Nigeria. During that period, he brought along a 29-year-old young man who had worked under him in the Water Resources Department during the 1980s, and appointed him as his Personal Assistant (P.A). In 1999, after Kwankwaso had continued his political struggle since 1992, that same young man had returned to work in the Water Resources sector. Unexpectedly, Kwankwaso won the governorship election in Kano State, and once again he sought out the young man and reappointed him as his P.A, this time as the Personal Assistant to the Governor. In 2003, after Kwankwaso lost his re-election bid, the Federal Government appointed him as Nigeria’s Minister of Defence. Kwankwaso still did not abandon the young man; instead, he took him along to Abuja and appointed him as his Special Assistant (S.A). In 2007, after Kwankwaso left the Ministry of Defence, Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as Special Envoy to Somalia and Darfur. Again, Kwankwaso continued to move with the young man as his close aide and trusted right-hand man. In 2009, under the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Umaru Musa Yar'Adua appointed Kwankwaso as the representative of the North-West region. Kwankwaso once again continued working closely with the young man as his right-hand man. In that same year, Kwankwaso secured a federal appointment for him, and fortunately, the late Yar’Adua appointed him as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), Ondo State. In 2011, Kwankwaso returned and became Governor of Kano State for the second time. Once again, he brought back the young man and handed him the position of Commissioner in one of the major ministries. In 2019, after Kwankwaso completed his tenure as governor in 2015, the young man had stepped back from politics until 2018, when Kwankwaso brought him forward again and declared that he would contest for governor under the People's Democratic Party (PDP). This decision caused Kwankwaso to lose some allies and supporters, as many believed he had chosen someone who was not experienced or capable enough. The election was conducted, victory was initially declared, then it was announced as inconclusive, and eventually Abdullahi Umar Ganduje retained his seat. In 2023, Kwankwaso once again brought forward the same young man and insisted that he would be the candidate. Due to the lack of a solid political structure within the PDP to support him, Kwankwaso left the party and joined a relatively small and lesser-known party called the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), together with his supporters. He once again ensured that the young man secured the ticket. The election was held, victory was achieved, and the young man eventually became the Governor of Kano State. History can be inspiring to hear. However, sadly, after this young man became governor, within just two years the story began to take a different and unpleasant turn from the end of 2025 into 2026.

There’s this guy that likes my cousin. Bro has been chasing her for over a year now, and I’m not even exaggerating when I say the guy is serious serious. He sends her lunch at work every day. He even paid her rent earlier this year. At some point, we all started begging her to just give him a chance because from everything we can see, the guy genuinely likes her. But my cousin refused. Her reason was that she’s a bit taller than him and, according to her, he doesn’t know how to dress well. Yesterday was her birthday, and she was lowkey expecting him to shut down Lagos for her. Omo, uncle posted engagement pictures on his status. He proposed to someone else 😭 Now my cousin has been crying since morning, saying she’s starting to develop feelings for him and that he should have tried harder. Women, our wahala is too much. 😂

NiMSA? You didn’t join. FAMSA? Not interested. IFMSA? Never bothered. No affiliations outside your medical school. Volunteer for outreach? Nope. Student politics? Nowhere to be found. Research? No time. Skills training? Not for me. Okay, at least get distinctions… Ah, still no.

I am Nigerian, and right now my dream is bigger than me. Only about 4.5% of medical literature globally are represented on Black skin. That means millions of Black patients are learning from systems that barely look like them. Medical students study diseases on skin tones that are not their own. Doctors are trained with visual references that often fail Black bodies. That gap has consequences. So I am deciding to build towards changing it. I’m starting with a book. But the larger vision is far beyond that. I want to help build software and medical visualization tools that make Black medical representation impossible to ignore. This is not just about diversity aesthetics, this is about accuracy, education, visibility and better healthcare outcomes. One day, I want a Black child studying medicine anywhere on earth to see themselves fully represented in what they learn. And I believe we can build that future.

Because you asked nicely While Obi was busy saving his state money in banks he had interests in, Seyi Makinde was busy doing infrastructures up and down. He didn't just focus on bringing civility and order Seyi did a lot of Urban renewal projects, did transport corridor improvements, did fasola Agribusiness Hub revival, increased the state IGR and revenue... Didn't increase the state poverty level... Increased education funding, built infrastructures for schools, recruited more teachers... Had more investment for his state

I love the way litigation medicine is popping up. I love it so much. Since you doctors have refused to hear world, you're not getting paid right but you chose to be robin hood to your patients. You'd be working in dysfunctional system, using towels as mops, using general surgery equipment to do complex peads and CT cases, water bottle as CPAP and so on. Instead of letting the system die a peaceful death, you chose to keep it alive with your blood and that of your juniors. Well, good news is that Nigerians don't rate you. Shebi it's CT professor that they came to beat the other day, it'll be your turn next time. Nigerians hate you and they'll happily sue you to death if you make the slightest mistake. And nobody cares if the mistake is from a systemic issue or it's personal. They'll say the system is working, so you're the one at fault. Keep being the robin hood chiefs. I won't be sad when you all find your way into prison. As for me, I will never do pass my boundaries for any Nigerian in this country. Thank you.

An average Nigerian hates a doctor, which is why when seeing any patient, they should pay for your services. Who can’t afford your services should seek healthcare somewhere else, simple.

Teargas in a Hospital, a Thoughtless Act. I have just read the recent troubling reports of how the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly stormed the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital in a bid to arrest Professor Eyo Ekpe, a professor of cardiothoracic surgery and deputy chairman of the hospital’s medical advisory committee. While I understand and respect the fact that the EFCC, and indeed, all other government agencies have their constitutional rights to do their jobs without interference, the manner in which some of these jobs are carried out is often deeply troubling. Reportedly, the EFCC operatives who stormed the hospital shot some teargas canisters within the hospital premises which sent medical staff and patients running for safety. This thoughtless act greatly compromised the general safety in the hospital environment and further jeopardised the health of the medical personnel and the sick people in the hospital. I have always said that the most fundamental intangible asset upon which any nation functions effectively is the rule of law and order. The disorderliness allegedly demonstrated by the EFCC operatives at the hospital must not be encouraged. Nothing justifies the use of teargas canisters in a fragile hospital environment. Do we not realise that our hospitals are part of our most critical contributors to development? We must also learn to respect the lives and dignity of our citizens. If a Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery is arrested in such a demeaning manner in a hospital environment, what signals are we sending to other medical professionals working hard to keep our health sector afloat? It is reported that Nigeria has only 80 cardiothoracic surgeons serving its 230 million people, and the Prof Eyo Ekpe is the only one in Akwa Ibom State. Let us learn to do better. Let us condemn and eschew the rascality and disorderliness that have continued to characterise some of our public offices and bring in civility in the discharge of our duties. A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

My boyfriend once lent me ₦500,000, and I promised him I would pay it back in 5 months. That meant every month after my salary dropped, I would send him ₦100,000 until I completed the money. So every month, I kept to my word. First month = paid. Second month = paid. Third month = paid. Fourth month = paid. Now, on the last month when I wanted to complete the payment, he had earlier told me to call him immediately after sending the money. And I did. Immediately I sent the money, I called him like he said. While we were still on the phone, I suddenly received an alert of ₦500,000😭 I was confused and asked him why he sent the money back. And then he said something that melted me completely😭❤️ "Well done my Queen. You see, babe… the money was never the issue. I could never collect that money back from you. I just wanted to see if you were truly a woman of your word. A lot of people make promises, but only a few actually keep them. You did… and that says a lot about you. You can keep the money. What mattered to me was your sincerity… and you’ve already shown me that❤️ And honestly, that’s one of the best qualities a woman can have"❤️ Omo… I replayed those sweet words in my head for two weeks straight😭😍 Sweet words from someone you love can stay in your heart for a very long time❤
