How cannot it be ovious to you that all the examples that used are erroneous. Iran doesn’t own the strait and as such cannot charge a toll for passage. Simple.

Très mauvais choix de nom, à mon sens : cela renforce la vulnérabilité symbolique du bâtiment. On évite de donner le nom d’un pays à un navire de guerre, pour des raisons évidentes… On ne pouvait pas faire pire, en fait, en plus de l’aspect ronflant et « monsieur muscle ». Bref, à vouloir déjouer les pronostics et à chercher l’originalité à tout prix, on commet un impair, on fragilise d’emblée un bâtiment militaire …. Faire simple et dans la tradition, parfois, c’est mieux.

the "strong passport" being measured by how many countries you can visit is dumb. an EU passport is the most valuable because it grants you the right to live and work and study. getting visa-free travel to brunei or whatever matters only to a vanishingly small number of people.

I lived in Kuwait 1977-78. It was the lively center of the Gulf, while Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Qatar were parochial outposts. In 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait. Although the West liberated Kuwait in 1991, Kuwait has never come back. The same is now likely for Dubai, Abu Dhabi & Qatar.

I've noticed that Iran treats Gulf countries differently. For Saudi Arabia, Iran only bombed the U.S. military base, nothing else. But for the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and others, Iran not only bombed U.S. military bases but also struck some oil infrastructure and even hotels. The UAE, in particular, had its financial center bombed by Iran, making it seem like Iran dislikes the UAE the most. I believe Saudi Arabia was treated differently because of two agreements. One is the Beijing Statement signed by China, Saudi Arabia, and Iran a few years ago, and the other is the defense treaty signed last year between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Iran still has some respect for these two agreements to a certain extent. The UAE and other countries, however, are not part of these two agreements. BTW: why Iran dislikes UAE the most?
