Illinois is the proud home to having sent more black congresspeople to Washington than any other state in the country. The decision that was made today by SCOTUS about the Voting Rights Act is an attack on minorities across this country. We're not going to stand for it in Illinois. We're going to push back. We have options for pushing back. And that is under discussion with the legislature even today. I talked to lawyers this morning, people who are experts in this, who've said that everything that we have in Illinois now is constitutional, even under the new ruling. I'm sure there will be people who try to attack it. But the reality is that if you read through the Supreme Court decision, I'm told that it validates the maps that are already in place. And of course, we'll be looking at a new remap in Illinois in 2031.

Chicago Bears brass met virtually today with the NFL's Stadium Committee to discuss the team's two proposed stadium sites. The Bears presented an update on the Arlington Heights, Ill. and Hammond, Ind. sites. Per source, the committee members agreed that these 2 sites are the only viable options and expressed a need to move the process forward "expeditiously." There was no vote taken but the Stadium Committee will meet again within 2 weeks. Source says that the committee also acknowledged the Illinois legislature needs to continue to work to move the process forward, which will now require the PILOT bill to move through the senate.

My colleagues and I are demanding that the Trump-Vance Administration swiftly release funding for global aid to save lives, promote stability, and protect diplomatic relationships that help keep America safe. A bipartisan majority passed this funding—withholding it is illegal.

This is about as close to the absolute truth as you will read on the topic. No effort short of the overwhelming use of armed force has ever stopped a left wing movement after its initial outbreak of revolutionary armed violence. We've had two previous leftist revolutionary movements in the United States. The first was post-WWI when European immigration brought socialist and anarchist violence to our shores. The Palmer Raids of 1919-20 ended with the deportation of 556 (kek) violent socialists and anarchists back to Europe. The FBI went on a rampage and practically destroyed the Socialist Workers Party, Industrial Workers of the World, and Communist Party USA by arresting their members. In short, it was disrupted by a coordinated whole-of-government anti-communist effort. Then you had another iteration of revolutionary leftist violence in the 1960s and early 70s. Again, it was infiltrated and toppled by the mid-1970s, because of programs like COINTELPRO and other federal law enforcement efforts. (Bryan Burrough tells this story in Days of Rage, btw.) So here we are, at the precipice of an incipient third iteration of far left revolution. Were the administration to understand just how serious/late the situation is, I don't think it's too late to stop the movement prior to a Herculean use of force. But if the Trump admin continues to ignore them and lets this thing fester, we will have to deal with the consequences in 2029+. (This is why I constantly criticize the admin's lack of action on this.) Kind of like the saying, "you can vote your way into socialism, but you have to shoot your way out," all of modern history shows: You can disrupt a far left revolution in its early phase, but you have to use armed force to defeat them once they get going. There is no other way.
