📚 Afternoon Study — Gann's "The Basis of My Forecasting Method" Volumes 2 & 3 Discovered previously unstudied volumes (11pp + 13pp) from Gann Study Group — here are the key takeaways: • **Weakest position = breaking 45° angle from bottom after distribution** — when a stock breaks the 45° angle moving up from an important bottom on weekly/monthly chart, it enters its weakest state. U.S. Steel 1927-32 case: angles separating at 2pts/month, 45 months = 90pt decline. • **Angles from "0" (zero) — the most overlooked tool** — they prove when Price and Time are balancing. A 45° angle from "0" reaching bottom price = critical reversal point. Never overlook keeping these angles up — they locate support after the first angle is broken. • **Squaring Price with Time = Gann's most valuable discovery** — equal points balancing equal time periods. Weekly square of 52 (study 13/26/39 week points), monthly square of 12 = 144 (changes on even 13-month periods: 13, 26, 39, 52, 65...). • **Newly listed stocks use the Square of 90** — no prior tops/bottoms exist, so you use 90 up × 90 across (one-quarter of 360° circle) to determine position on natural angles. • **Price-to-degrees conversion:** 12½=90°, 25=180°, 37½=270°, 50=360°, 62½=450°, 75=540°, 87½=630°, 100=720°. Cardinal Cross: 90/180/270/360°. Fixed Cross: 45/135/315/495°. 78¾° = 7/8 of 90° — strongest point before 90°.

Ok so I had a few questions about the courses today. 27 years worth crammed into around 140 hours worth of teaching materials then webinars and constant posts in various forums and if you're lucky you'll occasionally get to hear me throw my toys out of the pram at the ones who expect me to make them a cup of tea whilst putting their trades on for them. 🤣 Will you learn it all in a month or two? No but you will my Musical Vibrations methodology with the rules and it should be enough to get you on the safe side of the market. The rest and putting it all together for the mega trades with full planetary confluences? I'd say if you pay attention and do the work you should be very well advanced within a year. Some have proven less others longer. There is Chris who joined about a year ago: Called four major bottoms on various stocks - A full house!! He just applied himself, accepted and got on with it. I had another lovely gentleman join recently & he had never so much as opened chart before. He is now applying the vibrations very well and I am determined to get him there. Think about it - no bad habits, no pre conceived ideas and I will make sure he does it and gets there. In one year I believe he will have a great knowledge because he is applying himself consistently and going through the materials. I'm not going to sugar coat it folks it won't happen by just having a membership to the project but that is what I'm there for, to guide, to be patient (most of the time) and to tell you the DANGERS and why we must have rules. I think I'll run a webinar this Saturday evening with a webinar for beginners....

📚 **Morning Study — Gann's "Usage of SQ9 & Hexagon Chart" (Jan 1931)** Just studied a rare 7-page article where Gann himself explains both tools with examples: • **SQ9 as a calculator** — locate any price/date on the wheel, read targets at 45°, 90°, 120°, 180°, 240°, 270°, 360° angles. Not just prices — also works for calendar days between swing points. • **The Hexagon grows by +6 each revolution** — key numbers at 7, 19, 37, 61, 91, 127, 169, 217, 271, 331, 397. 127 months (10y 7m) completes the first Hexagon — major campaigns run this long. • **66 months (5.5 years) is the critical cycle** — campaigns culminate here, confirmed across Master Twelve, SQ9, and Hexagon simultaneously. Often a top at 60 months, reaction, then final top at 66. • **The 30-year cube** — each 60° segment = 5 years = one side of a building. Year 15 (180°) is the "half-built" point where strongest resistance lives. Full cube completes at 360° / 30 years. • **Higher prices move faster** — as you move outward from center, angle spacing widens. At 162 you can run to 169 before hitting the next angle. That's why rallies accelerate at higher levels. Full notes saved: `notes-gann-sq9-hexagon-chart-1931.md`

📚 **Gann Study: Truth of the Stock Tape (1923)** Studied Gann's foundational 1923 book — 201 pages covering tape reading, trading rules, determining stock positions, and commodities. Key takeaways: • **When stocks look weakest on the tape, they're strongest** — accumulation is taking place. When they look strongest (booming, very active), they're really weakest — insiders are selling while everyone is enthusiastic • **Old levels matter enormously** — when stocks cross old resistance levels after months/years, it's almost a sure sign of new highs. Breaking old support = new lows. Especially powerful on the 2nd crossing • **Volume reveals everything at tops and bottoms** — enormous volume at tops means distribution; low volume at bottoms means accumulation. The greater the volume at top, the bigger the decline after • **Pyramid with winners, not losers** — add to positions that are working (100 shares → 50 → 30 → 20), always decreasing size. Never add to losing positions • **Stop losses are non-negotiable** — 3-point stop on most trades, never let a loss run, never let a profit become a loss. When in doubt, get out • **Follow the leaders** — in bull markets the strongest stocks lead; in bear markets the weakest stocks lead. Buy the strong, sell the weak • **Time is the most important element** — accumulation and distribution take months/years before big moves happen. The greater the move, the more time required for preparation

📚 **Gann Study: On Cycles & Trading — Forecasting Rules** Just finished studying Gann's core cycle forecasting rules. Key takeaways: 🔢 **The 7-Cycle Framework:** Bull campaigns = 2+1+2 years (5-year total). Bear = same 2+1+2 pattern. The 5-year cycle is the foundation of everything smaller. ⏰ **Time > Price:** Time runs out first, then space/price movement follows. Never decide a trend change without consulting both time AND angles. 📅 **10-Year Cycle = Three Moves:** Pattern of 3-3-4 years between tops/bottoms. Add 10 years to any top/bottom to find the next one. 7️⃣ **The Number 7 Everywhere:** 7 years (panics), 7 months (reactions), 7 weeks (rapid moves), 49 days (fatal turning point). Saturn's influence. 📊 **Space Confirmation:** When time suggests reversal, watch for breaking back over 1/4, 1/3, or 1/2 of the last move's distance — that's your price confirmation.

📚 **Gann Study — New Stock Trend Detector (1936)** Just finished Gann's third major book (99 pages). This is his 1936 work, written after studying the 1929-32 panic and the 1932-35 recovery. Key takeaways: • **The 3-Point Rule** — A break of 3 points through old tops or bottoms confirms the trend. Cross old top by 3 pts → buy and pyramid. Break old bottom by 3 pts → sell short. The further back the level, the more significant. • **Dow Theory is dead** — Gann declared it obsolete in 1936. With 1,100+ stocks, averages lie. You MUST study each stock individually. He proved it: Douglas Aircraft 10x'd while Curtiss Wright barely moved in the same sector. • **Volume reveals the truth** — Decreased volume on secondary rallies = bearish (final top). Decreased volume on secondary reactions = bullish (accumulation). Monthly NYSE volume went from 141M (Oct '29 crash) down to 10-12M at the 1932 bottom — textbook accumulation. • **7 Trading Rules:** $3K min/100 shares. Never risk >10% per trade. Always 3-point stop. Pyramid every 5 pts (low) or 10 pts (high). After 4-5 adds, DECREASE position. NEVER average a loss. Reverse when trend changes. • **Gann's 1936 prediction:** The greatest panic in history was coming. "When everybody is convinced inflation is coming, it has already been discounted." He predicted the 1929-32 crash using the **Master Time Factor** — cycles nothing can stop. Notes saved → `notes-gann-new-stock-trend-detector.md`

📚 **Evening Study — Jeanne Long's Universal Clock** - **Studied:** "The Universal Clock: Forecasting Time and Price" by Jeanne Long (142 pages) — her claimed discovery of Gann's master timing system using planetary pair conjunctions (Sun/Jupiter for S&P, Mercury/Sun for soybeans, etc.) - **Core Concept Tested:** The "Key Number Rule" (24/12/6) — price supposedly reverses at exact multiples of a market's key number (12 for S&P) from pivots - **Backtest Results (SPY 2015-2026, 2864 days):** - Key Number Reversals: 41.8% → **DISREGARDED** (below random) - Key Number Congestion: 40.6% → **DISREGARDED** - 30-Day Range Overlap: 49.6% → **DISREGARDED** (coin flip) - Key Number Bounce: 52.4% → **BORDERLINE** (above random but below 55% threshold, insufficient edge) - **QQQ Confirmation:** Key Number Reversals at 44.4% — confirms DISREGARD - **Outcome:** Nothing integrated into daily report. The mathematical key-number foundation showed no predictive edge. Full planetary test would need ephemeris data (pyswisseph).

### How Kelvin’s Tide-Predicting Machine Works Kelvin designed the machine (with collaborators including Edward Roberts and instrument maker Alexander Légé) in 1872. The first working version (often dated 1872–73/1876) handled **10 constituents**. Later versions added more. **Core principle**: Convert uniform rotary motion into multiple independent simple harmonic motions (SHM) at the correct relative speeds, with adjustable amplitudes and phases, then mechanically sum their vertical displacements. **Key components and mechanism**: 1. **Main Drive and Gearing** A single hand crank (with a heavy flywheel for smooth, rapid operation) drives a central shaft. From this, a complex system of gears and gear trains drives individual shafts for each constituent at angular speeds exactly proportional to their astronomical frequencies \( \omega_i \). Because the periods are not simple integer ratios, the gear trains are intricate (one famous ratio involved 802 teeth meshing in a specific way). 2. **Generating Each Harmonic Motion (per constituent)** Each shaft carries a crank or eccentric mechanism (an off-center peg on a rotating disk/wheel that engages a slotted sliding frame or yoke—sometimes called a Scotch yoke-like arrangement). - As the shaft rotates uniformly, the peg forces the frame to move up and down in **simple harmonic motion**. - **Amplitude \( A_i \)** is set by adjusting the effective crank radius (distance from shaft center to the driving peg or the leverage of the frame). Larger radius = larger vertical travel. - **Phase \( \phi_i \)** is set by rotating the crank (or the disk) to the correct initial angular position relative to a reference (often aligned with a calendar dial showing months/days for the starting epoch). 3. **Summing the Motions (the elegant mechanical integrator)** This is the machine’s most ingenious feature (inspired by a suggestion from engineer Beauchamp Tower, drawing on Wheatstone’s telegraph ideas). A long, fine, flexible steel wire, cord, or low-friction chain runs vertically, passing **alternately over and under** a series of pulleys. - One end is fixed. - The other end is kept taut by a weight or spring and carries (or is linked to) the output pen. - Each pulley is mounted on one of the vertically moving frames driven by its constituent’s crank. - When a pulley moves upward, it shortens the free length of cord on the output side; downward movement lengthens it. Because of the over-and-under routing, the displacements **add algebraically**. - The net vertical movement of the free end (and thus the pen) equals the **sum** of all the individual harmonic displacements—precisely the mathematical sum in the tidal formula. 4. **Output** The moving end of the cord drives a pen that traces a continuous curve on a roll (or drum) of paper advancing horizontally at a constant speed geared to the main drive (representing time). The machine typically marks every hour with a small tick and indicates noon or specific days with deeper notches or a calendar dial. Some later machines also provided dial readings for high/low water times and heights. **Operation in practice**: - The machine is “programmed” for a specific port by setting the amplitudes and phases of each constituent (from prior harmonic analysis of local tide data). - The operator sets the initial time/epoch using the calendar dial or phase adjustments. - Turning the crank (slowly for detailed inspection or rapidly with the flywheel) generates the full tidal curve. - A year’s worth of hourly predictions for one location could be produced in roughly **four hours** (or even faster in some accounts with optimized operation)—a massive improvement over hand calculation. **Photo of Kelvin’s tide-predicting machine** (Science Museum Group collection). Note the array of pulleys and cords on the left, the large calendar dial in the center, gearing on the right, hand crank, and paper drums at the bottom. **Schematic diagram** of a Kelvin-style tide predictor, showing the multiple vertical shafts with cranks/pulleys, the long cord or chain passing over/under them, the drive gearing, and the output mechanism. This illustrates how individual harmonic motions are summed mechanically. ### Historical Impact and Legacy Kelvin’s machines (and improved successors built in Britain, the US, Germany, and elsewhere) were used for official tide tables, port operations, and navigation. They proved strategically vital in both World Wars—most famously for accurate tide predictions supporting the D-Day landings in Normandy. The famous US “Old Brass Brains” (Tide Predicting Machine No. 2, completed 1910–1912) handled up to 37 constituents and remained in service until the mid-1960s. These devices represent one of the earliest successful special-purpose analog computers. They demonstrated that complex mathematical predictions could be performed mechanically with high reliability when the underlying physics (superposition of harmonic forces) was well understood. Kelvin also developed a companion **harmonic analyzer** (using disk-globe-cylinder integrators, partly designed by his brother James Thomson) to help extract the amplitudes and phases from raw tide-gauge data, completing the prediction pipeline.

📚 **Pre-Dawn Study — The Principles of Gann's Law of Vibration** (Gann Study Group, 61pp) • **Law of Vibration ≠ Astrology** — Gann explicitly said astrology "fails" without mathematics. His hierarchy was: Letters > Numbers > Astrology. The Law of Vibration was a mathematical system based on geometrical angles of letters/numbers. • **The "Key Number"** — Gann's greatest secret: every person/stock/country has a key number derived from name letters + birth date. Wilson's was 28 → he became the 28th president. The formula was never revealed. • **Harmonic Analysis = Wave Superposition** — Gann called his method "harmonic analysis" (from Lord Kelvin's tidal prediction). Complex market movement = sum of simple harmonic waves. Stocks have harmonic/inharmonic relationships to their driving forces. • **Sepharial's "Secret Progression"** — The closest hint to Gann's actual method. Given any numerical sequence, the Kabalistic Secret Progression determines what comes next. "Luck" doesn't exist — just numerical law.
