@DomainDan Yeah, perhaps 3.5-4% once you account for Afternic commissions etx. Do you see comfortably crossing this based on your current data ?

@optinomuk I think it's more like 3% target to break even Renewal cost: $10 each Portfolio size: 400 Annual cost: $4,000 ASP ($299–$399): ASP=349 Break‑even STR: 4000/(349×400)=0.0286 Break‑even STR ≈ 2.9% more complex but this is the simple version.

I've been thinking about the $299 $399 $499 bucket test I'm doing. I've had loads of messages which is lovely, and it's mostly, should I try this ? Will it work for my portfolio. The answer lies in the data. I've spent quite a while building a portfolio of cheap domains, but with specific criteria met, just for this purpose. So if you just price your whole current portfolio at $299, you may not see the same results. I have minumum 3TLD on all domains, usually over 5 TLD , with other boxes ticked in terms of GD Value and % probabilty of sales etc.. I've taken some data using the domain academy advanced afternic search to extract the number of domains for sale at different price points and Min TLD count to highlight the importance and dramatic shift in exposure when you change price. When you drop your BIN price, you’re not just lowering the number…You’re shrinking your competition. See table At $4,888 you’re competing with 1.5M+ domains. At $499 it’s 93k. At $399 it’s 56k. At $299 it’s 36k. Lower price = fewer sellers in your lane = faster liquidity. Domain pricing isn’t just about value, it’s about positioning. Dropping your BIN price doesn’t just make your domain “cheaper.” It moves you into a smaller competitive lane. At $4,888 you’re up against 1.5M+ listings. At $499 it’s 93k. At $399 it’s 56k. At $299 it’s 36k. And when you factor in TLD count, the picture gets even clearer: More TLDs taken = stronger demand = higher STR… …but only if you’re priced where buyers actually convert. Lower price + high TLD‑taken = maximum liquidity. Pricing isn’t just math, it’s market positioning. But you need to have names that tick the right 'data' boxes. NB this is just one aspect, approach for domain investment. There are many others, some more creative, some more risky, some more rewarding. Good luck. If you do have questions please fire away, but the real expert on all of this is @rdce80 , so my advice would be to check his accounts out. Also, he's been running this 6 months !!

Couple of sales to share via @afternic from my new $299 bucket. Started on Friday, two sales in last two days. I've got some strong names in this bucket, but it's something I've wanted to test for a while, and credit must go to @rdce80 as he's give me some good advice over DM in the last year or so and his latest videos have helped cement some of my thoughts into action !

Self-brokerage is a grind. At GoDaddy, buyers usually think they’re negotiating with a corporation. With self brokerage, they realize a private seller is involved, and the vibe shifts. I’ve seen buyers withdraw offers immediately just to hunt down my WHOIS info and hit me with a lowball.

Worth noting, a user submitting a self brokerage offer must create/log in to a Godaddy account but submitting one to Afternic brokers does not. I assume it's because brokers get to see and use all their contact details but self brokerage must be done through the platform. Still, a big friction point in converting lander views to enquiries.

If you have Self Brokering selected at Afternic, you'll receive inbound offers from "Make Offer" landing pages. You won't receive Price Request inquiries. Those are managed by Afternic brokers.

I'm so sick of hearing this from people with 5-50 shitty .xyz names. For years now.. It's been proven time and time again by 3rd party sources. You can also see that most of them are developed by real companies. Is Swetha real? I don't know, and I honestly don't care. The sale are real and this person has thousands of the best .xyz names in existence listed at high prices. The STR isn't even that high when you consider the number of .xyz in this portolio.
Mostafa | Domainput@Domainput

Is anyone selling .xyz at $50K+ besides Swetha? I was Holding 45 strong one-word / tech synergy names (50+ extensions), listed for a year at $1,000 BIN with zero sales.

@Domainput Open your eyes: Who sold Quantum.xyz for $200k ? Who sold Plato.xyz for $59,888 ? There are dozens of investors selling .xyz. If you don't sell, it means you haven't figured out the extension.

🚨 Unstoppable price increases coming first week of March $5 Fridays is nearly a year old now, and it's been a fixture in our journey to becoming a world-class registrar. But it's time to move on — and we're replacing it with something even better. Here's what's changing 👇

We might already live in the singularity. Moltbook is a social network for AI agents. A bot just created a bug-tracking community so other bots can report issues they find. They are literally QA-ing their own social network. I repeat: AI agents are discussing, in their own social network, how to make their social network better. No one asked them to do this 🦞 This is a glimpse into our future.
