And now I’m here at Fortnum and Mason’s on Piccadilly, London. One of my favourite shops. Everything is perfection in here. Every food item is exquisitely presented and it makes me want to buy everything. Sadly though, I can’t, so I’m going up to the parlour to enjoy a Fortnum’s peach black iced tea with honey syrup.

@CapelLofft I have wasted time on these today. Been with @bt_uk for over 20 years. Their broadband prices are now ridiculous and so I've been shopping around. They have great deals on their and @EE website but not available to me! Rip off merchants

In August, I went into an EE shop simply wanting a new phone. A woman in the Cambridge branch told me that to get the cheapest overall phone and broadband deal, I should get a BT Business broadband and a tablet. I wanted neither of these things but as she said it would be cheaper overall and I was in a rush as it was my lunch hour, I agreed. When I had more time, I realised this didn't make sense, complained to EE, who admitted that I had been missold stuff I did not need and the woman in the shop had been sacked for misconduct. They moved me onto a much cheaper EE broadband and said the other stuff would be cancelled. I then started getting bill demands from BT Business for a service I never wanted, cancelled soon after, and was fraudulently sold. I tried to ring them but after hours failed to get through. Last week I got a bailiff's letter demanding over £2000. I have eventually got through to BT Business and now they are saying that because I signed a contract (despite it being missold to me by an EE employee who has been sacked for misconduct), I owe the money and as I haven't paid it in time it has come to over £2k. @EE and @BTBusiness, you are disgusting fraudulent spivs. Now it's literally impossible to get through to speak to someone at EE about it as their phone system doesn't allow an option of 'make a complaint'. Shame on you. NEVER EVER deal with these shameless fraudster, run a mile from @EE and especially @BTBusiness

@londonjessicas I have exactly the same unit, in front of my tv so I'm always watching it with dread. Thermostat set to 18°, I've never known it to be this bad and our bills are supposed to be reduced??

@Dividend_Learn I'm an accountant too - 54 and started last week 🤦🏼♀️
Always excuses, lack of time & knowledge, and risk averse!

This is my last post for 2025.
Hope you read it.
I am 46 and didn't start investing until I was 44. I am an accountant by profession and you should wonder why I didn't start earlier.
Well, I was making up excuses in my head, low income, bank deposits are safer, marriage, kids etc.
I urge you people, don't be like me. Start investing as early as possible with as much as possible. Every dollar invested counts. Time is on your side when you are in your 20s.
Make it your goal to retire earlier. Time is precious as we only live once. Enjoy life as you don't know when it's your last one.
Hope everyone has an amazing 2026.

Final dividend of the month (which I forgot about)… I won’t spend it all at once.
I hold $VUSA in my growth pie which I only made about a month ago.

Did anyone else get a payment today?

@2147mill Came across you randomly and you gave me the faith & knowledge to take the leap into investing! Happy New Year - hoping 2026 is the best!

Feeling genuinely grateful for the engagement here.
I only started this account and posting late October and it’s honestly blown up. I’m just a guy sharing what I’m doing - not a financial advisor - but it’s been really cool talking with so many like-minded people.
It’s clear there’s huge interest in UK investing, and if I help even one person open a Stocks & Shares ISA so their capital isn’t quietly eroded, I’ve done my job. If that person then tells someone else, we’re flying.
I’m incredibly excited for 2026.
Stay tuned - I’ll be sharing a full December portfolio breakdown in the coming days.
Wishing everyone a happy new year 🎉

@London_W4 I stayed here in April 2024, it was ok, bit grubby but did the job for our stay at the time. I didn't even notice that alleyway!
Thankfully stayed in the Tribe in Canary Wharf this year, worlds apart

@2147mill Not sure what app he's using but it looks like HMRC font - don't like it 😂

@JamesP728 @2147mill Excellent, thank you! I should have found that myself 🙄
English

@JamesP728 @2147mill Thanks! Can I put existing individual holdings into a new custom pie? Tried selecting them but it's asking me to invest, rather than add my holdings. Sorry for the questions, I'm completely new to this and I've probably already done things the wrong way around 🤦🏼♀️

@MarcherReborn He's probably still there if it's around Newport 🙄

You make a sale of £1200 in your business.
£200 is VAT.
You have £1000.
You pay 25% corp tax on it.
You have £750.
You pay it to yourself as a dividend and pay 20%.
You have £600.
You spend it, and £100 of the spend was VAT.
You have something worth £500.
You die and pass that thing onto your kids, and your estate owes 40% in taxes.
Your kids have £300.
Are you seeing why it's nearly impossible to get ahead in the UK? This is why people are leaving. And it’s even worse in SNP Scotland, where higher taxes and relentless bureaucracy crush ambition further.
