@tony5500904348 These are graphics used to plan and analyze military operations. Look up terms like course of action analysis, Milstd 2525 and FM 3-90 for some context. I find them fascinating

Why not go completely on the grid as well?

@SapperJaeger I'm trying to make the UI feel like excalidraw and other similar drawing tools. Rotation and scaling is really useful.

@orbatmapper surprisingly, rotating an object, is not common in similar tools -- a bit frustrating to not have

@orbitalresolve Thanks! SVG import is out of scope for the tactical graphics library, but for a user facing tool it is a great idea! As a minimum, allow the user to import images and SVGs and use them as static base maps to draw on. The Desert Storm map is really nice. Thanks for sharing!

@orbatmapper This looks great! Could be neat to be able to import SVG battle/campaign maps and extract selected SVG paths as GeoJSON. For e.g., Wikimedia DesertStormMap_v2.svg is already vector, so the app could fetch the SVG, show its internal paths grouped by layer/color/stroke.

@geo27752 Great suggestion! I already support three map engines, so KMLKMZ should be relatively straightforward

@geo27752 My current philosophy is to size the graphic according to the current zoom level. If you zoom out things get smaller. When zooming in things get larger, but are capped to a maximum size. You don't want text that fills your screen 😂

@geo27752 Thanks for the feedback! Scaling is difficult to get right. I'll run some experiments. Currently you can use ground or pixels for sizing. For some geometries and zoom levels you risk crashing the browser due to an excessively number of generated points

@orbatmapper The interface is really nice and snappy. Very intuitive. I personally would prefer the unit name and size near the top of the parameters, since that’s what I would change very often.

@SeanBLambert Thanks for the feedback. I will experiment with the order. For user facing tools I will probably hide most of the parameters. Most users don't want so many options.

@Menzo2003 In ORBAT Mapper? I currently have limited grid support there. Any particular grid or just a generic grid you can move around?

@orbatmapper Is it possible to add a ABC123 grid as an overlay inside a rectangle?
