If DeLaurentis says so, it must be wrong. He was head of the US diplomatic mission to Cuba during the failed Obama “thaw”. During this time, the US, in contravention of our values and history, sided with the communist oppressors instead of the oppressed Cubans. That’s one reason Obama’s policy was a colossal failure. "We're looking at a deployment of the Venezuelan model [in Cuba]," says Jeffrey DeLaurentis, who was America's first ambassador to Cuba in 55 years. "I don't really like the notion of using humanitarian suffering as a political tool for change. But this is where we are."

The Russians are not be bringing anything in to defend Cuba. They do not want to fight Trump to defend a bunch of losers. The plane is there to take the GAESA fortune - $18 Billion according to US media - before the Americans can grab it and put it to work for Cuba’s reconstruction. It’s going instead into Russian banks to ensure cushy lives for the Cuban satraps that destroyed the island’s economy and murdered tens of thousands. All in the name of sovereignty and socialism. Sound familiar? Otto Reich.

.@POTUS on Cuba: "We're talking to Cuba, and you'll find out pretty soon... One of the groups I want taken care are the people that came from Cuba that were forced out or left under duress — and they're great citizens of the United States right now."

Bye, bye to the first quarter of the 21st Century: Terrorism; Rise of China; Global Financial Crisis; Russian expansionism; Democracy vs. Totalitarianism; Catastrophes; Pandemic Covid-19; Human Genome Sequencing; Telecommunications & Social Media boom; Artificial Intelligence (AI); unprecedented scientific, medical, and technological discoveries and advances... Western Hemisphere dictatorships: Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua... And what about the predictions of "The End of History and the Last Man" by Francis Fukuyama? 2026 🙏 Let the change begin!

@cossiom Well said. Time to end the dictatorships. All of them! As Thomas Jefferson said: “I have sworn, upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against any form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

Correct. My Tesla and SpaceX shares, which are almost all my “wealth”, only go up in value as a function of how much useful product those companies produce and service. This means my “wealth” can only increase due to producing more products and services for the public. Moreover, anyone else who is a shareholder in Tesla and SpaceX, which incudes employees, participates in the upside of stock appreciation. That is because I am a maker, not a taker like the Bernie Sanders type politicians of the world. They take and they’re on the take, because they cannot or will not make.

🧠🪱 Elons stocks aren’t wealth. If the number of Tesla shares doubled the world isn’t any richer. If the number of Tesla cars doubled, it’s measurably richer. For him to get to $1t in capital, he has to organize labor to set the means of production in motion to produce enough consumer wealth that his companies are worth trillions. Aka he has to ship wealth to consumers. Whoever runs on inequality isn’t a socialist. They aren’t running on “let’s build more houses or more hospitals” because they actually can’t find anyone competent who can organize labor so these things end up being built. The outcome is always just more state debt and inflation.

@ericfarns Even if Miami wanted “to loot Venezuela,” which is not supported by any facts, it would be impossible to loot a country already robbed clean by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the Communist Party of Cuba and its armed forces of occupation.

It’s just weird that sociologists and Latin America studies types keep showing up in the mainstream press declaiming on #Venezuela military matters. Have we not see the way conflict has changed fundamentally? Whatever happens, if anything, will not look like Iraq, Libya, Panama…
