I bet this was fascinating!! pun only [kind of] intended. one day I’ll give a TED talk on how a user-owned context layer made AI [& human generated data] work for the people instead of the platforms & set the foundation for an equitable intelligence economy. so that any robot can be your robot if your context is portable. & maybe just maybe bill will be there on that day too. because he saw THIS post & knew this was the type of thing that would change everything & that kind if thing is sort of his thing. looking forward to watching this bill!!

@bgurley OMG amazing can’t wait to watch this! I hope to one day give a TED talk on the social phenomenon that occurred in the wake of my AI generated TED talk last year. & the dangers of anthropomorphic design in robotics & language models.

Today was my last day at @xai. I built up the human data finance domain from zero to well over 200 tutors and team leads. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to help @Grok reach towards AGI and @spacex spread consciousness throughout the universe. Ad Astra.

Here’s an idea.md for anyone who isn’t scared to build an ambitious product: Someone’s going to make 100-1000M dollars building a self-updating personal knowledge base that syncs with imessage, twitter, email, chatgpt/claude/claude code/codex messages. This knowledge base will have an MCP to be accessible from anywhere. You’ll be able to edit it like notion, style it to your liking, and set rules about how data is organized. Once it gets mature enough, it can even proactively suggest things that will improve your life, as it knows everything about you. Unlike some memory systems, this will just be files so completely observable. The closest thing to this that exists is Mintlify’s KB and Notion, but both are more for enterprises than individuals. Just paste this into Claude Code, ask it to perform a socratic interview about ambiguities (or just use gstack), clank for 2 days, get Chamath and Karpathy as your first two customers, and do YC. You’ll have competition at some point but it won’t matter because you’ll be better at UGC and paid ads.
Chamath Palihapitiya@chamath

This may be a dumb question but I’ll ask it here anyways: I can’t find a good way for my various AI chats to automatically sync its conversation history into a structured knowledge base. So that as I update various chats from time to time and refine context, my knowledge base automatically grows with this new info.

it's true!! with ouroboros, your personalization data travels & grows with you. also, only YOU can access your data. we believe your data is one of the most valuable assets a human can own in a post automation society. & right now, the average human owns NONE of theirs. the future will be comprised of portable personal knowledge bases, that make any model or one day any robot, your model/robot.

@cigardev @sierracatalina @chamath only you can access your personalization data. it is architected in a way that we could not see it if we wanted to. your data should belong to YOU. & right now, it doesn't.

@garrytan @ycombinator once you’ve done the ‘teaching,’ make sure your new found digital memory empire remembers FOREVER & wherever you go. because your personalization SHOULD be portable & it should be YOURS. both are true with @ourochat ♾️

We just went from horse-and-carriage to car. The old manuals still have truth in them, but the whole map of effort, speed, and leverage changed overnight. Building used to mean holding an entire system in your head. A fragile memory palace. A house of cards in biological primate RAM. If you stop, the palace collapses. Dinner, a meeting, a context switch. You come back and it’s glass dust on the floor. That’s why builders can look “antisocial.” It’s not vibes. It’s survival. You’re trying to get the palace out of your head and into code before it evaporates. Then the weird miracle: I type a few paragraphs that barely make sense on reread, and the machine builds the palace anyway. It mirrors the structure. It fills the gaps. It hands it back. The feeling is not “wow productivity.” The feeling is: I am seen. Like the part of you that has been translating yourself for 20 years finally gets understood on first contact. This is why the new skill is not “code faster.” It’s taste, direction, and leadership. Managing a swarm of agents. Running tight loops. Knowing what to ask for. And it brings back something old-school: apprenticeship. We forgot how to teach. Now teaching matters again, because the tools are insane but the mind behind them still has to be trained.

@garrytan if you’re a memory palace person, gary, you’ve got to try @ourochat. we’ve built a portable, model agnostic memory palace that brings your context everywhere you go. & you can index anything into that personal context & traverse your knowledge [data] like a true memory palace.

I used to carry a whole “memory palace” in my head while coding. One interruption and it shatters into glass dust. Now I can write 3 messy paragraphs and the machine rebuilds the palace pristine, clearer than I could picture. I read it and think: I am seen.
